The idyllic restaurant on the river (and thanks for comin’ to the talk!)

Thanks all of you that were able to come out to my talk last night. I hope it was entertaining for y’all! The good people at CapMac said there was a good crowd there with just over 100 people. There were some very interesting questions, and everyone seemed very nice and affable. We’ll have to do it again next time – thank you all for coming – sorry I could not meet all of you! :)

This, below, is the Fig Tree restaurant on the River Walk in San Antonio. If you’ve never been around there for a walk, I highly recommend it. It’s a very touristy thing to do, but, still, it’s cool. And if you like Mexican food (who doesn’t???), there are a million restaurants right there on the river.

It’s all great for people watching. I always like to watch couples walk by and play, secretly, "Do those two look like they belong together?" That probably sounds like a weird game to play, but I can’t help it!

The Skies over the Alamo

It’s hard to believe that the Alamo is just a bit over an hour from Austin. I think I’ve only driven down there three times since I have lived here, but it’s always a good time. On this particular day, the sun was setting and some rather moody Alamo-esque clouds were rolling in… just in time for the tripod!

The Restaurant at the River from the Bridge

I think I ate more guacamole that one night than every other night of my life combined… This is from the Riverwalk in San Antonio.

The Restaurant Under the Bridge

Here is another cool area of San Antonio where you can eat Mexican food in this cool place under the bridge.

Sunset at the River Walk in San Antonio

Everyone loves the River Walk. That place is great. Both my tripod and I were at great risk of falling in the river as the crowds passed by, going from one riverside restaurant to the next.

I think I ate more guac that night than the sum total consumed in Guadalajara.

The American Bald Eagle

Some people have been asking for some shots from the 200mm, so here is one of them.  I hope you like it!  This one is lightly textured… the background as already pretty busy, so I normally don’t mess with those too much unless I want to convert one kind of business into another!

HDRemembering the Alamo, with textures at dusk

I had a meeting in San Antonio where I walked from the Hilton to the AT&T building. On the way back, it was getting dark, so I spent about an hour at the Alamo and the clouds were perfect. Lucky!

This is part of a new tutorial that I planned on putting up this weekend, but I did not have any extra time this week at night to work on it! It’s coming soon though.. just need ONE hour to record the video. Is that too much to ask the Gods of Time?

Some Non-HDR work…

And here are a few pictures that somehow escaped my mad labyrinth of software processes known as my HDR gauntlet. The first is from Rome and the second is from San Antonio. If I had not indicated which was first and second, you would have never figured it out.
