Disney World – Page 6 – Stuck in Customs

The Ghost of Disney

I sat down on the curb on Main Street to watch the Disney parade come by. Normally, frankly, I don’t like parades. I am very easily bored, and I need to be extremely visually or mentally stimulated or else I just zone out… But the Disney parade was great… they throw everything at you, and then some. Once these ghostly dancers started moving down the street, I felt like I was in some kind of a dream sequence…

Johnny Depp live on the set as Captain Jack Sparrow

Okay there is he! No… not really him… but this guy was an incredible look-alike. He had all the mannerisms down pat, which, until recently, I had not realized was based on a drugged-out Keith Richards.

There are a ton of stories about women and randy moms hitting on Captain Sparrow while at Disney with their kids… I dug up one of the blogs at lamag.com/featuredarticle.aspx?id=7016 that you can read… very entertaining!

The Fireworks Explosion at Disney During the Pirates and Princesses Party!

There is a special night at Disney when they close the park for everyone except for the people that bought special passes to the Pirates and Princesses Party. Things were still pretty busy as we scurried around from one stop to another to collect treasure and engage in the booty-like festivities.

They even had a bunch of Johnny Depps running around (one of them rather convincing), taking photos and giving impromptu sword-fighting lessons. I had read a story about a Johnny Depp-lookalike that worked at Disneyworld that had a secret blog… about all the crazy things that would happen behind the scenes with all the randy moms.

Anyway, the finale of the night was this massive fireworks display on top of the Cinderella Castle… it was more than my 10mm could grab!

Cinderella at Sunset

The striated Florida clouds seemed to streak across the sky every evening we were there. It was hard for me to drink in all the great photography opportunities there… just too much for the senses! Needless to say, no one got to go on any rides during the sunset hour as I had them all goose-stepping around the park to get good locations that I had secretly been scouting the whole day!

Life is but a Fairy Tale Stage

I thought this was a perfect little stage, beautifully lit in the evening. This was shot on the night of the Pirates and Princesses Party at Disneyworld, where all the kids would come dressed as one or the other. This is a little area where the little girls come to listen to stories read by Cinderella and Snow White…

From the Gates of Hell to a Sunset at Disney

Yesterday’s shot was a bit macabre (but cool!), so here is something a bit lighter for the weekend.

Whenever the sun starts to set at Disney, everyone rushes for the castle to watch a special show preceding the fireworks.

A Magic Evening

Dusk falls on the pink Cinderella castle in the Magic Kingdom. It was a quiet night… not too many people around.

The Giraffe on the Savannah

Our giant reticulated friend, unable to articulate, was forced to gesticulate in the most ridiculous manner.

The Lobby of the Animal Kingdom Lodge

This hotel is great.  We have a room that overlooks the Savannah and we can see giraffes, zebras, and about a dozen other exotic animals frolicking about.  Thank goodness I brought the 200mm lens… although this one was taken with the 10mm Sigma.

Last night we had the Pirates and Princesses party.  I was trying to figure out why so many adults were standing in line to get autographs from a Disney actor that was pretending to be Jack Sparrow, another actor.  Mass hysteria, I say!

Disney Studios at Sunset

I’m here with the family in Disneyworld for a few days. I hear a lot of, “Dad comon we gotta get a FastPass,” and “Dad comon didn’t you take pictures last year?” But the clouds are different. THE CLOUDS ARE DIFFERENT! 🙂
