The Lion Gate of Vancouver

This is the prettiest bridge that leads to Vancouver. It looks cool from just about any angle, so it was fun driving around, skirting the coast, checking out all the vantage points.

You also take this bridge when heading north to Whistler, which is another cool area. I’ve never been there in the winter… I need to get up there and get my snowboardin’ on!

The Docks in Vancouver

Everyone in Vancouver probably knows this building, but, being an outsider, I found it kinda cool.

Strawberries

Here are some strawberries from Granville Island. See, they are right there. I have no additional or witty commentary on these strawberries.

The Crystal Ark, Granville Island in Vancouver

Okay back to normal pictures for a while… or normal to me, at least. This is the brightly colored Crystal Ark in Vancouver on Granville Island. I think it was a kid’s toy store or a gun shop. One of the two.

Aquabus floating on Vancouver’s sea of mercury

Vancouver is perhaps the grayest city I have ever visited. The buildings have been ordained by the government to maintain roughly the same color as the clouds at all times. It it wasn’t for these colorful Aquabai, it would be like one huge Take On Me video.

This was taken on Granville Island on a Sunday morning.

A Morning Row

This is a sport I never got into, mostly because it seems to involve oversized equipment and I don’t know where I would keep a boat like that in my house. It would be the sort of thing that gets lodged in a stairwell for several years.

British Colombia in HDR

Here is a shot of a small bay town between Vancouver and Whistler that I forgot the name of…

The HDR Tesla Coil in the Storm

The clouds and the storm were just about right for transmitting electricity through the ground, so I had to grab this HDR of the Tesla Coil in Vancouver.

The Hidden Pond

Here is a nice little foggy pond at sunset in Vancouver in the Autumn. I can’t think of a better time of year or conditions to shoot around there.

Across the Lake

Here is a shot of the blue storm over Vanconver one evening, from across the lake in Stanley Park.

Little Boxes

Here are some cool homes on Granville Island in Vancouver. For some reason, looking at that green house on the right makes me dizzy.

Blue Vancouver

This is the Lion’s Gate late one evening as the fog rolled into the bay. I was lucky it was stormy most of the time there, because that tends to make for more interesting photographs. If you squint closely at this picture of Canada, you can see the socialized medicine.

The Pictures are Hung

Over the weekend we hung pictures up at the gallery. Everything looks pretty sharp and those of you are coming to the gallery opening should see something a bit different, perhaps. I don’t know… impossible to be objective, but I do know it is different than what is usually shown there at Halcyon.

I’ll be showing about 45 pieces. Here is a sampling of the ones at the show. You will notice the first three are exceptionally pointy.

Vancouver at Midnight

This is an HDR of Vancouver taken from Stanley Park very late at night. We headed over there after a dinner party since it was one of the few nights it wasn’t raining, we wanted to take the opportunity to see the city.

Racoon Alert

I found this little devil in Vancouver’s Stanley Park a few weeks ago. You can see how huge the fall leaves are all around him.

Most Rain Ever

There is a torrential downpour here in Vancouver, and they say this is the most rain British Colombia has gotten in a long time. It hasn’t been the best for taking pictures, but it did allow for a few moody scenes like this one below:
