Along Highway 1 in California

New Drone?

I’m expecting to hear some news from DJI any time now… for a while there, they had an announcement about new quads every few months or so… We must be getting close to a new version.

Daily Photo – Along Highway 1 in California

As far as road trips go, I figure this is one of the best in the world. Highway 1 hugs the coast for hundreds of miles and there are not any bad photos, anywhere! In fact, there are so many great places to pull over and take photos, it can be a little overwhelming. I took this one with the quadcopter… just getting up in the air a few hundred feet gives yet another great view.

Getting through border security at LAX

This was one of my most popular and controversial Facebook Lives of recent past. I didn’t mean for it to be so nutty, but, well, have a watch/listen and maybe you’ll see!

Pool Time in Beverly Hills!

Speaking of…

Today’s daily photo features one of the founders of Plotagraph! If you look around the Plotagraph site, you’ll probably see even more photos of her… the full story below! ๐Ÿ™‚

Daily Photo – Pool Time in Beverly Hills!

One day while we were staying at one of my art collector’s homes in Beverly Hills, we had the team from Plotagraph over, Troy and Sascha. We were having a little catch-up session on Plotagraph, and my friend Tom Anderson was there too (you know, MySpace Tom!). Anyway, we were both ready to take some photos, and since Sascha is a model, she offered to slink around the pool a bit. Troy was really funny – he’s a Photographer as well – but he knows how to talk to models… so he was yelling out this and that and cracking me and Tom up… I’ll get a recording next time!

Daily Photo – Yosemite in the Morning

I took this on New Year’s Morning, several years ago when we had a fun photo walk in Yosemite. You all know I hate waking up early, but I was more than happy to arrive at this beautiful spot. All in all, I still recommend Yellowstone over Yosemite, but there are a few amazing spots in Yosemite you gotta hit! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m Over Facebook

FB Photo Walk

We did a private, exclusive photo walk at the top of Facebook with some FB Employees. Here’s a highlight video!

Daily Photo – I’m Over Facebook

Check out this photo! It was very difficult to make. Oh, this is over the Headquarters of Facebook south of San Francisco, where the entire roof is an enormous garden.

First, we had to get permission to even fly the drone here. That wasn’t easy. Luckily there is a good “celebrity management” team there at FB that was able to help out. (Note I don’t really think of myself as a celeb). Anyway, once I finally got up, I did a vertirama. This was stitched together out of 5 different vertically-oriented shots.

Sunrise in Half Moon Bay

HDR Tip with Quadcopters

I’m using the Phantom 4 Pro now, but I’ve stopped autobracketing. I’ve noticed that whenever I take multiple brackets into Aurora (or Photomatix) that they get very noisy. So now I just bring a single RAW photo in and it seems to work fine.

All I can gather is the small sensor size (Even though the P4 Pro is 4x it’s lesser cousins in size) still has a bit of micro-noise that adds up when you combine multiple photos.

Daily Photo – Sunrise in Half Moon Bay

I had really bad luck weather the whole time I was here at Half Moon Bay. On the final morning before the family flew to Denver, there was finally a good sunrise. I had been planning to get out there with my quadcopter to get this kind of a shot. It was very windy, but it was able to hold steady enough to get a few good shots! By the way, this is the beautiful Ritz-Carlton there. The night before, the bagpipe player came out at sunset while we all at smores over the firepit. How awesome!

Hollywood Hollywood!

All on Smugmug

Yes, I’m still hosting all my images on Smugmug. They’ve been a great partner and service for us through the years. Thanks Smugmug!

Daily Photo – Hollywood Hollywood!

I’d like to sincerely thank my good friend Caleb for taking me behind the Hollywood sign one evening for a beautiful photo session. The only thing missing was some of his yoga instruction! It’s really hard (as in pretty much IMPOSSIBLE) to get into this position. He told me the incredible and unbelievable story about how he got access. Just amazing. This place has so much security… we’re talking Dept. of Homeland Security level activity. We got waved through so many guards to get back here… I’ll never forget it!

Japanese Beach Dress-up Party

Zen Playlist

Here’s a link for my “Zen Playlist” on YouTube!

Daily Photo – Japanese Beach Dress-up Party

I really like it when Japanese girls dress up in crazy ways. It just makes me smile for some reason. In fact, I don’t know why Japanese girls don’t wear something like cat ears or rabbit ears all the time just to keep people around them more happy.

Sneaking Back Behind the Hollywood Sign

Aurora HDR Playlist

I’m slowly growing my Aurora HDR Pro Playlist on Youtube. As time goes on, I’ll add more and more to it. Actually, I have a LOT of Youtube Playlists in which you might have an interest!

Daily Photo – Sneaking Back Behind the Hollywood Sign

I’ll be forever grateful to my friend Caleb for getting me back here! Actually we didn’t sneak in, as he has some insane level of connections… I was so impressed how he got us in here โ€” really remarkable. And then being here was like a waking dream. I can’t tell you how those LA lights sparkled like jewels under the sea…

And it was Really Steep and Dangerous too. I had no idea. Just trying to move around to get different angles was a trial in itself! But boy, it sure was fun… I’ll never forget it!
