the angry mouth opened as the sea ice cracked a smile
Explorers of Yore
I don’t know how those old-timers did it! A long walk from here would get me over to Shackleton’s famous hut in Antarctica. While I was in there, I saw a small dark room. It was amazing! How people back then could take photos then go back to a frozen dark room to edit them is simply beyond me. I barely had enough energy to take out my SD card and put it into my laptop to import into Lightroom!
Daily Photo – the angry mouth opened as the sea ice cracked a smile
Here, it is a crisp morning. I’m on a cliffside on the edge of an Antarctic volcanic island that stands still as the moving sea ice crashes into it, breaking apart. Every day, there is a new shape, a new angry smile in the ice, a new series of cracks and folds and a ripping of ice that you can feel before you hear it. The penguins would lounge about, and occasionally make silly gaits over to the water for a quick dip and snack, like Floridians on a cruise.
This is a pano made out of 120 photos. If you zoom in, you can even see little penguins on the ice! 🙂
