Controversy over on the Petapixel article
We’ve had to go in and defend the good honor of Gordon Laing over in this article on PetaPixel! There is also a bit of acrimony and nonsense over there with people comparing this to schools or existing models. They don’t understand; this is a new model that will make that other one obsolete. All of us on the inside already get it, and this beta period is so exciting.
Anyway, Gordon is one of the new Masters over in The Arcanum. We’re lucky to have him as well as all the other amazing Masters that are going into this beta phase with us. We’ve been getting in an absolute ton of applications. I’m so excited about that; and there are even a ton of Masters applying. We’re starting slow of course in sort of a beta-phase so we can iterate and improve the flow when things really scale up. And they’ll scale up like crazy if the Applications are any indication.
Here’s just a taste of some of the places around the world where people have filled out applications: Afghanistan, Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Barbados, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Latvia, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and of course the alphabetically last United States!
BTW, over there on the right are two people different people. On the top is Lucy Gain, who runs a totally amazing local hotel here in Queenstown called The Spire. Below her is one of our Masters, Hannah Lord, who will be taking on 20 Apprentices to teach about whimsical art photography and more!
Pizza with an Icon
I got a cool note in my email from a team working with Hans about a new effort they are doing!

Daily Photo – The Conical Mountain
Here’s a shot that was taken out the window of Choopy’s chopper as Tom and I were flying around back behind Lake Wakatipu. I love seeing the crazy shapes of all these mountains. I used to have that double-major in Geophysics, so I took a ton of Geology classes. But I don’t remember everything… so, I see cool shapes like this, and I only know about 75% of how they were formed… this is a little frustrating, but I kind of like using that mysterious 25% bit to wonder a little.
