Daily Photo – The Amazing Bridge in Sydney

I think I took this during the Sydney photowalk – I am not sure! But those clouds seem very familiar. I took So Many Photos in Sydney… thousands… and I’ve processed hundreds so far. But I just can’t remember exactly when I took this one! Maybe someone from Sydney can confirm that I took this that evening.

I really wanted to get up there on the bridge, but they don’t let you take your camera, which is a real bummer. I wish I could get special permission some time. Whoever can get me special permission can go with me – that would be a blast! :)

Hi Trey. Sorry to be old fashioned but surely the EXIF data on the original RAW’s will tell you when you made it?

Beautiful shot of this bridge – love it! :)

I wish the city would take down the poster/billboard on the left side of the bridge. It’s like painting a mustache on the Mona Lisa.

  • Karl Lindsay

Yes, this was on the photo walk. I have a similar photo. You can take your camera across the bridge but just not on the bridge climb.

    Thanks! :)

It’s actually not a poster but a light projection and looking at the date it was taken and the person in the projection and I’d say it was being projected as part of the lead up to our equivalent of the Super Bowl.

I did the bridge climb about 10 – 11 years ago? I remember that the trio behind us was from the Japanese media and they had a photographer and he was allowed to bring his gear. (I think it was the Japan Times, but it could have been NHK) So I know it is (or WAS) possible back then, maybe you just need media credentials?

Not even with your Nex 7? Who needs a tripod? Brace it and bracket, I say. Photomatix is that good! In a pinch, all that works well for me.

Trey, actually the poster does not bother me much. Infact I like it. The bridge, though beautiful, would have been plain without it. The extra elements, poster and clouds, add a great deal to the picture.

The projection was on the bridge pier on the night of the Sydney photowalk. And the clouds match the weather of the night. You also set up on that spot. So the odds are high that it was then.

While I can’t get you onto the bridge, I can get you and your camera gear onto the top of the pier with the projection on it if that would suffice? This is quiet easy.
