Daily Photo – The Bird of Moeraki

We set up on the rocks of Moeraki just outside of Fleurs. There is this abandoned dock here that shoots out into the bay towards the sunset. I like this spot because it is one of the few places on the east coast I have found that points back west towards the sunset.

Taking photos of birds is really really really hard. It just takes a lot of trial and timing! I don’t do a lot of close-ups of birds… just not my thing… but I do like to try to incorporate them into the landscape when it feels right!

Clouds always make a nice pic but there is always a place for a bird or 2,well caught.

Yes birds are tricky – back in the old film days (not that long ago really) I wasted a lot of film trying to shoot birds on the wing. Out of a 36 shot reel, if I was lucky I might have one or two usable negatives to work with. And I must admit I have been guilty of double exposing a shot of a bird onto a sunset in the darkroom. But of course now with digital, there’s no waste of film, just time. And then there’s Photoshop. Great shot Trey.

Hi Trey! How do you choose the languages in which the international HDR tutorial is available? Are you looking at the website’s traffic origin? If you are interested in having that page in Romanian I could do that…
