Fishing on Oahu

Speaking of fishing…

I’m running into an increasing number of people who call themselves “Pescatarians” – vegetarians that also eat fish. Have you run into these sorts too? I think I’m pretty close to that actually… I do find myself mostly eating veggies and fish lately…

Daily Photo – Fishing on Oahu

The rugged coasts along Oahu make for some lay-up (as Tom calls them) photos. Everything is quite rugged and dramatic. But, even if it was not for the drama of the scene, I think this fisherman is extra-dramatic! I didn’t see anything actually caught, but I would think it would be some giant dramatic fish.

As a young lad we did a lot of fishing in such places around Cape Town and have seen time and time again where the swell will wash right over the top. Rock fishing is dangerous but in my time it was fun and never thought of dangers.
Love the ragged coast line it makes the fisherman look like a toy.

Even if I hooked something from up there, I’d be worried the whole time I was reeling it up the side of that cliff. Lots of opportunity for a fish to spit out the hook.

I suppose people have all sorts of labels for themselves. All I know for sure is that every meal should include some form of charred animal flesh.

Great shot trey! BTW, I’m a pescatarian without too many veggies and turkey and chicken on the side (definitely have little to zero red meat these days:-)

How about all the talk about pollutants in fish. When shopping groceries or eating at restaurants it seems almost imposible to get info on where the fish was sourced from and the pollution issue (heavy metals etc) is real. Are you concerned and if so which measures do you take if any?

Forget fishing..let’s go cliff diving. That way I can still eat red meat and burn it off quickly. ;)

I don’t eat too many veggies, because I care about our environment. Veggies and trees convert carbon dioxide into oxygen. I would never kill any vegetables that are saving our mother earth… /troll (great picture by the way!)

They were probably fishing for big game fish called “Ulua” or otherwise known as Skipper Jack Trevali (sp?). They will spend all night trying to catch one, but may end up with nothing. If they do catch one, they most likely won’t eat it due to cigueratera poison (sp?) in the fish.
