Daily Photo – Downtown Sydney from the Rocks

The Rocks is the oldest part of Sydney, and it’s down by the harbour. I have to make sure I get the “u” in there to appease local sensitivities. Anyway, it’s a cool area full of a lot of old-world charm. Now there are a lot of restaurants, bars, and little hotels that are sprinkled around the area.

I took this one from the top of a 3-story salsa bar. I didn’t even really go into the bar, except for the way to find the top of it! I looked quite strange walking around the salsa dancefloor to get to the other side, dancing with my tripod!

Trey 1 question for you or your readers, will be flying down to the Antarctic and will be in the air for12.5 hours of which 4 hours will be over the ice, then returning home, (hopefully). Is there any recommendation on lenses I should be using as we can only shoot through the windows of the 747. I feel the wide-angle is out as we are flying at 2,000 above the highest point ,so feel maybe 70-200 with 1.4 may be ok. What are the thoughts of all you photographers out there, love to here from you guys. Thanks Casper.

Great shot Trey. Love the colours. I really battle with HDR photos at night – do you cover much night time HDR in your workshops? Which other programs besides Photomatix would you use for a night time HDR like this? I know you suggest Topaz plugins as well – did you use any of them for this specific image? I just love the pop factor in the image. Keep them coming!!

70-200 is the way to go I think! You are right – wide-angle will do no good :(
