Moonlight Clouds – Queenstown at 7:30 AM!

Bid on a Rare Print

Thanks again everyone who has been ordering prints! Whether you order from SmugMug or do a custom high-end signed piece on metal, I am appreciative!

I received an email recently from a gentleman who has been unemployed for a long time and is now selling off his possessions so he can pay his mortgage! A sad story… He emailed me, lamenting that he had to sell this print and he was heartbroken. This print is QUITE rare – it is numbered 1/50 in the series. These normally sell from $2,000 to well beyond. In fact, if you buy it, you’ll have the same print as +Mark Zuckerberg – only yours will be more valuable than Mark’s because his is higher in the series.

To bid on his print, visit the eBay link here.

New Zealand from Space

I was on Google+ and I saw Liz Quilty put of This NASA photo of New Zealand (Here it is in ultra hi-rez). Isn’t that cool? There is a satellite there that takes a new image every day. So I ended up bookmarking this site where I can go see the cloud cover, and even import it into Google Earth. Awesome dot com!

Daily Photo – Moonlight Clouds – Queenstown at 7:30 AM

The winter in these southern places make the sunrise rather late! I took this about 7:30 AM in the morning while the moon was still out over the sparkling Queenstown. I set up the tripod on my balcony, and this is our amazing view! I’m renting a Bach here called “The Nest” – and it has incredible views all day long… and all night long too, as you can see! :)

I’m not often up early enough to see this view, nice one mate! I was doing some work for Tim Wilson recently – he sends his regards… Interestingly enough he lives just up and around the corner from where you are renting that batch. You should email him & catch up! See you soon :-)

Love the crispness of the town and its lights, what time does the sun go down?

A favorite spot of mine up there! Although its usually a frantic drive from the other side of town to try capture an amazing sunset. You should just by that house and live there haha!

Shot from my spot slightly further down the road.

    Incredibly jealous of the view and the move to New Zealand. When I first heard about it I was actually upset, “dammit he’s beating me there, I’m supposed to move there”. My wife and I plan on emigrating there in the next few years so maybe we’ll see you around. I highly recommend you take a trip up to Lake Tekapo and photograph the church there. The lake provides a gorgeous backdrop. My wife an I just were married there this February! Man am I jealous. Keep up the great work, and maybe some posts about the immigration pitfalls you came across :}

Trey, incredible view.  Hated to see you leave our wonderful country, but I know we will reap the benefits from your future photos of New Zealand.  Good luck to you and your family.

I’m glad your enjoying your new country :-)  I do love QT but I just can’t live that far from the sea… now that you live here you can explore the North Island sometime (not in the winter!).

    Thanks! :)

  • Trey Ratcliff

I do look forward to exploring up there! :)

Now, most New Zealanders aren’t the fussed by Queenstown (it feels a little bit like central Auckland most of the time) – but there’s really no denying how beautiful its surroundings are! I love it that they’re called the Remarkables…

    Beautiful pic.

Interesting that the market didn’t value your supposedly valuable print at more than the retail value. In fact it went for less.
