Disney Fantasy Cruise – The Skyline Bar

Daily Photo – Disney Fantasy Cruise – The Skyline Bar

Which city do you think this is??

This is the coolest bar on the ship.  I was in here this night with John Lasseter (I think!) – but he was sitting with a group of people and I didn’t want to interrupt him to say hello.  Anyway, these walls are filled with images of different cities that change out every 12-14 minutes or so.  And, if you get up close to these hi-def walls, you can see movement!  People walk around the streets, cars move, lights flicker, people go about their days inside their homes, etc.  It’s endlessly fascinating.  I also have some video of this too — I’ll release that as soon as I have more bandwidth at dock!

Nice looking Pub,but I’m Pub goer, never like the smell of these places. It was worth a picture or two.Talking of moving pictures,I once had a dream of owning a restaurant and they were all rail carriages and while having your dinner you were traveling past some of the greatest cities around the world just as portrayed in your picture. There would have to be movement in the carriages like the real thing with white table napkin service, fine wine and fine food. Now to old but still dream and good to share your dreams with others to give ideas that they to can dream and if young enough make it a reality. Hope you all are having a good time and a good weekend,God Bless.

Nice Pic Trey. That city is definitely Florence in Italy. And that’s quite a cool idea having the window pictures actually be video, and rotating cities :)

Great photo of a great bar!! Looks like Florence to me too, although the “menu” on the bar seems to narrow the options down

    It’s Florence since I recognize Brunelleschi’s cathedral.

  • Casper van Zyl

The Cathedral dome you see on the right is Santa Maria del Fiore started to build in 1296 by the Florentine architect Arnolfo di Cambio but the dome was designed by Fiilippo Brunelleschi 1420-61.  To the left  of the Cathedral is the bell tower which was begun by Giotto and continued by Andrea Pisano. Far right picture I think is the Palazzo Vecchio or Palazzo della Signoria with a bell tower 94 m high (308ft) built  in 1299-1314. Thats about all I remember of  Florence when I visited it in 1971. For Gothic and Renaissance buildings and art galleries it is one of the best places I have visited in my life time. As Trey has studied and has travelled the world doing photography I to have traveled and have seen places the difference is i was uneducated an orphan for 14 years did an apprenticeship as a carton die maker on a year 7 certificate work as as petrol pump attendant ,bowling alley mechanic, parking attendant you see its not riches that gets you what you want but the will to try and seek what you want and you will find,as I have and that was education in travel.God Bless

I don’t know if I could have talked to John Lasseter … he is a member of a very short, very selective group of people who has done work so inspirational and transformative for me personally that I don’t think I could find words to express what I’d want to communicate. We share a love of Hawaiian shirts — maybe I could talk to him about that.

I was going to say Paris but it looks like everyone else is going with Florence. Nice shot!

Those videos in back of the bar must be mesmerizing.  If I were there I would be captivated and watch them for hours, sipping some exotic  drink until I fell of the bar stool. But then I wouldn’t get such a fascinating photo. Guess you didn’t have enough bandwidth to send the high def version. I would love to see the details.  Maybe you could resend it when you get to shore.
