Daily Photo – Los Angeles from Runyon Canyon

I spent most of the day at Tom’s house in the Hollywood hills doing interviews.  Getting interviewed all day is kind of a draining thing, in a way.  The day was dreadfully cloudy, but around 5 PM, I started to think the sky would be interesting at sunset and into the night.  So we wrapped up everything quickly then headed up to the top of Runyon Canyon to see the city from above.

I used the 28-300mm lens here in portrait mode and zoomed in all the way to the 300mm setting.

There’s a lot to like in this shot.  The blacks and the orangy haze, along with the little dots of other colors and depth really stand out as super-special. I appreciate your reviews on this lens, btw.  I ordered mine right before they went out of stock last week and have been really surprised by the clarity of it for a one-size-fits-all lens.   Great tips as always.

A lovely scene as always. But is it just me, or are all the buildings tilted a little to the left?

  • Casper van Zyl

Stunning cityscape Trey, would have been so easy to do this landscape but again you get the best out of the vista before your eyes, stunning.

I can understand not taking the picture with the buildings straight. But I can’t understand why you didn’t correct it in photoshop. You know how to do this, right?

Very cool view of my home city Trey. Digging the portrait composition of this. ;-)

Awesome detail.  The lights look like stars in an urban sky.

I think he’s in the Caribbean. Probably stuck in a hammock, sipping on something with an umbrella in it. Hmm… “Stuck in Hammock”, kinda has a ring to it.  Andrew.

Trey, new posts are not going to the home page.  I can see the posts if I type in the dates in the URL, but the front page still shows March 20.
