Chinaman’s Hat

Facebook Interest Lists

I decided to do something different when I curated some Interest Lists over at Facebook.  Come see and subscribe!

Keynote at Kent State

Are you in the Ohio area and want to come to a great event?  The admission is free and I’ll be talking a bit about the future of photography, sharing, and the internet.  I think.  Actually, I like to throw in a bunch of wildcards that I’m not even fully aware of until a few hours before the talk.

Daily Photo – Chinaman’s Hat

Also known as Mokolii, this distinctive island seems to stay in your view for a few hours as you go along the coast of Oahu.

EXIF-hunters will notice that I used my D3S to take this photo instead of my D3X.  I had to give that D3X a rest after getting it too wet over the previous four days of rainfall.  In fact, this was the first opening of the skies after an endless torrent of water and storm.  I was so happy to see some dynamic skies and be in the perfect spot when it happened…

Really cool…  The way the clouds meet the water, it is almost as if earth itself is about 25 miles wide..   great great shot, as always..BTW, DID you get your camera situation worked out? I’ve got one in for cosmetic repairs. Hoping to see a D800 shaped box show up this week. ?

What a GREAT shot.   Perfect composition ( sorry starting to sound like flickr….) I am glad you had the patience to hang in there.  This one would look great hanging on the wall.    Here is my dynamic sky and clouds pano.   http://www.wowphotoshdr.com/Other/FEATURED/14413329_Pm7Fbh#!i=1227253127&k=kW793

I should get my backup cam (SLT-A77) back this week.  If you need an extra cam to play with I can send it your way.   No waivers needed, gentleman agreement and all that.  Just send it back when you get done playing.  I offered it to Gino since he’s absolutely camera-less but he wasn’t game.

that is a good way of putting it. I hate the comments that always scream: “There was no way to take a bad picture of this!” There often ARE bad ways. Photography is not just that simple. And it becomes less simple, even, when HDR is involved.
