Daily Photo – Oahu Vacation

Well, it wasn’t really a vacation.  It was work.  Hard, wet, slogging work.  Don’t let this picture fool you.  Okay, you can let it fool you a little bit…  This is about the only sun I got the whole trip.  90% of it was me being extremely wet and rather physically and emotionally drained. Things were so wet, in fact, that they declared part of Hawaii a disaster area!  I was there for about a week with Tom Anderson, and he was so excited to show me his second home… he had big dreams of fancy-free days, taking photos on sunny beaches… be we had very little of that…  However, I did my best to produce a lot of images while there… here’s the first one I wanted to share with you.

Oh wow – super fantastically beautiful!! Love the lighting – such a beautiful place you found to photograph!

A Wow from  me as well, those mountains look like they come from a dinosaur movie and those trees look very much the shape of those thorn trees you find in africa. You know how people sometimes raise their hands in ore well those trees seem to be doing just that, as if to say look at our mountains. Well captured.

For some reason, I was trancelike when I looked at this picture. The clouds seem to move.  Look just above the trees at the mountains and you will see the clouds move. I just love the tranquility of this scene.

Glad you got a few good photos despite the rain while you were on Oahu.  It’s going to be raining here all weekend, too.  Hubby won’t be getting any more new fence built.  When the wind blew the east fence down again, he decided he best get at it.
Your photo is beautiful, definitely worth all that effort.  Have a great Friday!!

Sunny or wet… Hawaii must have been awesome.  Nice shot.

    Thank you :)

Hey Trey, liking the new intro bar.  And as usual the photo too.

Fantastic!  We are headed to Maui in a few months and this is making me uber-excited to shoot there!   I personally am holding out for a better price on the Mark III…I think my Mark II will suffice till Canon realizes the price is too high and @ThomasHawk gets his 23 orders in.

Thanks for the Variety Hour #26.
For me, the new Canon 5dMk3 is the camera that MK2 should of been 3 years ago… they crippled the camera so they could sell this one today with a 3500$ price tag.
Trey, I live in the Azores Islands and we have a “similar” landscape to Hawaii. It’s a great place to visit and a lot of people still don’t know about it. If you are interested you can google it or visit my website.
    Cheers.

Hawaii, sounds great. But I know those trips that you only work on and don’t get to see enough. Mine just don’t go to Hawaii.

  • Frauke G

Hey, great website!  I got really interested in visiting. Where I live, it’s just not that pretty – see: http://trans-pond.blogspot.de/search/label/NRW

Sweet shot Trey! I love the electric greens in this. Where abouts on the island was this taken? I’m thinking north shore somewhere.

Awesome shot. What fortunate lighting on the mountains. How long did you have to wait for that lighting?  Of course those beautiful trees in the foreground make the composition.  You placed them just right.

beautiful, Trey! I really like how you took the photograph when the two trees were darker than the rest of the scene… interesting look. I miss Hawaii… sorry that you didn’t have the “vacation” time there, hope it was worth it for the photos, though. Wasn’t the Buddhist center at Valley of the Temples amazing?? Glad you went there.

This picture reminds me of how much I look forward to the day you post pictures in 3D and we can all see them in 3D since we will be using holographic display-thingys.
