Sheep on the way to ParadiseThis title makes it sounds a bit like they are about to be slaughtered... or maybe they are suicide-sheep, about to meet some sweet sweet virgin sheep in paradise. But no, this is not what I mean. There is a little town past Glenorchy, New Zealand called "Paradise". I passed these sheep while on the way there.I never made it to Paradise, truthfully. I turned around. It felt like such a long way to get here, and I had to turn around to get back to Queenstown before it got too late.I took this photo with my new Nikon 28-300 lens. I love it so far! This one was shot at f/5.6, 70mm, and ISO 100.Read more here at the Stuck in Customs blog.

Unfortunately that’s NOWHERE near me. Lytros look awesome though, I cant wait to see this technology develop into a more professional package. I’ve heard that they’re working on apply light field sensors to video mediums. Say hello to the future.

Trey, have you ever done or considering doing a photo walk, or even a hike in the Grand Canyon?   We live only three hours away and try to get there at least twice a year.  While ALL photo’s there look good (how can they not?) it is one of the most challenging places to shoot.   We took a hike into it down the Bright Angel trail on the South Rim and the only lens I had was my Canon 50 f/1.4.  It felt like I was looking through a toilet paper tube (especially since my camera has a cropped sensor) but the photos turned out excellent!

    A Lytro Walk?!
Did you just say, “Are you interested in joining me for a PhotoWalk with a bunch of Lytros and get a chance to play with them? Plus, one lucky soul will win a Lytro to take home!” ??

I’m just checking.  Because that’s what it looks like you just said.
That’s like asking the Wolves if they want Sheep for diner.
Fire up the Trey Signal and shine it into the clouds, my man.  I’m you’re Huckleberry.

I just so happen to be in the US on the 12th of April (I’m hearing your Twit video), bu on the other coast :( If something does change, I would love to join.

After following you for several months Trey, I look forward to meeting and experiencing some new ideas. Where/when can we find out more details so I can be sure to bring the right equipment?

  • Yann Pinczon du Sel

Would be interested to get your opinion on the Lytro camera ;)
Before I can get a hand on a Lytro, I tried to use a manual lens and combine it with the capabilities of modern internet browsers, and here is what I got as a first attempt:

(works for firefox, ipad safari, doesn’t work with internet explorer, and I couldn’t test with other browsers)

Not quite available for a CA trip, but I’m desperate for a Lytro camera! They look awesome.
