Boat in Feng Huang

Renting a House in the Caribbean

I’m looking to rent a house for my family for a few weeks in April.   Any suggestions?

Daily Photo – Boat in Feng Huang

It was a cool and calm afternoon in the ancient and impossible town of Feng Huang. It’s an old town, wreathed in many legends.

On the old river, you can occasionally see a boat passing here and there. The boatmen come in all shapes and sizes, but many wear the same hat and style. It is absolutely like a warp of time…

If you have Barbados on your list, let me know. I may be able to put you in touch with someone who can help.

I love the water shown here, great color! Speaking of great colored water, if you are looking for a place with very little to do but rest and enjoy beauty (and I’m sure you could get some photos in there somehow) I was blessed to stay in a very special place in the Bahamas when I was a teen- it was a small house on a very small private island off Long Island. I am pretty sure it’s the house written about here, http://travel.nytimes.com/2010/11/07/travel/07privateisland.html?pagewanted=all. The tiny island is called Little Deadman’s Cay. Certainly not the fanciest place but beautiful and simple… and we also could explore the larger island, and I remember that the N point (away from Stella Maris, which was a very nice and fancy resort but maybe not the most gorgeous) had incredible beaches and bays. I could probably get more info if you are interested.
That trip was an amazing experience. Hope you find something similar!

The whole composition and processing on this image is one of your MANY great examples of how HDR should be performed.
    Not a fault anywhere hehe.

The water really does stand out for me, As you say, HDR Works wonders on reflections. I found this out on this image I took last year: http://danroads.com/photography2/2011/08/weymouths-new-ice-cream-parlour/

Keep it up Trey, You inspire me more and more!
    Thanks

    Great shot!

I think my previous comment got removed because of the link. If you are looking at St. Lucia, my wife and I had a great time there. Beautiful scenery. There’s a great group I can recommend if you like.

Hey! How is photography in China? Do you have to select your motives? Is there trouble awaiting from officials (at least in the cities and cultural centers)? I heared mixed information about this from different people.

  • Trey Ratcliff

No problems at all – it was very easy! :)

China is timeless – your photos are so realistic I probably don’t need to visit now – you’re saving me a fortune here :)

Stay at Arc en Ciel Villa in Saint Lucia. It costs like $16,000 a week, but that’s just pocket change, right?

Wow, wonderful photo.  There are so many beautiful places in the Caribbean.  The US Virgin Islands are beautiful, so are the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands are wonderful…

Re: renting a villa.  Try Airbnb.com and pick your island. Lots of great choices for vacation rentals from a spare bedroom to fantastic, private vacation homes

Thanks for your instant feedback. China is on my long term list of traveling. I had just heard strange things about right to photography and such and that I figure into trips as well.
In the last few years we have explored Iceland a good bit. Just saw your Westfjord’s video on Facebook. Such a typical experience, including the birds :)

    Lovely shot!

This is fantastic.  I have enjoyed all of your photos from this region.  I can’t wait to get there (only about 14 more months!!).  Well done.

Wow! I’m new to your website (and I’m so happy I found it). I’m a newer photographer and find myself spending most of my free time looking at photos. Yours are at the top of the charts, Trey. Thanks for the inspiration.

P.S. What program did you use to create this HDR shot? And I’m guessing it was a single exposure shot? Truly outstanding…
