The Mighty Ship

New Hangout Monday Night

The new show is Monday at 7 PM PT (Your World Time).  This show will be lots of fun. We’re talking about “Horror / Embarrassing / Funny stories from various photo-outings… either for a client or for yourself.” This week, the hangout will have Jeremy Cowart, Nicole S. Young, Catherine Hall, RC Concepcion, Brian Matiash, and Gordon Laing..  Joe McNally is a 50/50 chance… he’s traveling perhaps out-of-pocket, and I’m sure he has more stories than all of us combined!

Daily Photo – The Mighty Ship

I went crazy in this place with my camera!

There are so many incredible angles inside the Tokyo International Forum — it’s almost like cheating.  When I’m in the middle of amazing architecture, it’s awe-inspiring and I really want to try my best to capture it in a way the architect would appreciate.   I went up and down every floor of the structure and spent most of the afternoon here.  It was one of the best afternoons ever… I’m still going through shots, and this is my latest.

You must of enjoyed youself,it reminds me a bit, but not quite the same as Beijing Performing Arts Centre. It almost looks like the picture is upside down, but the lights say to me its right way up.Enjoyed studying it.The cetre piece almost looks like a fish. Thanks for sharing

Amazing photo!  It almost looks looks 3D.  The crossing struts make a moiré pattern.  I wonder where you were standing – looks like you were in mid air – perhaps hanging from the rafters.

Been there, took a stab at it too. This structure is amazing, especially when the sun is low it emphasizes all the intricate details. I just wish I had gotten on one of the catwalks that span the structure’s sides.

The Tokyo International Forum is another place that’s on my “got to photograph” list.  I scheduled a trip to Japan last May and it was cancelled due to the earthquake.  Awesome shot, Trey!  I haven’t seen it shot from this POV.

No – this one is just a single tonemap

The use of complementary colors in this image are beautiful. I am a huge fan of isolating colors like this in an image. Achieving proper white and color balance go a long way in an HDR image. Great work Trey!

I found your stuff on Flickr and must say, it’s inspiring me to want to get back into photography. I had to sell my gear for money a while back and now that I regret it, I am thinking about reinvesting so I can take it up again. Thank you for your work.
