Hiking Through the Valley, on the way to the Franz Josef Glacier

New Comment System! Now with attached Photos and more!

What do you guys think of the new comment system? Now, if you have recent photos you want to show people, little thumbnails appear in the comments… that is kinda awesome. Also, it makes it very easy for you to connect with Facebook, Google, and more.

Hangout in G+

Here was a casual hangout where you get to see some of the paintings of Daniel Ibanez. You’ll also hear about Mohamed Monsoor talk about his Hangouts plugin.

Daily Photo – Hiking Through the Valley, on the way to the Franz Josef Glacier

Ethan and I went walking for a long valley to get close to the glacier. We wanted to see the blue undercarriage that formed in the cave – the mouth of the glacier where a river empties. Along the way, we go through a verdant green valley that plummeted into the rocky flood plain. As I stopped to take photos, Ethan would root around in the rocks and try to find a piece of Jade to take home and polish up.

Great photo, New Zealand is another place high on my list of places to visit someday.  All of the photos and videos I’ve seen make it look so beautiful.

The videos you do are good but I’d like to see some audio podcast type content, too.  I, like I’d imagine most people, have a lot more free time to listen to audio (in the car, at the gym, doing chores around the house, etc) than to watch video on the computer.  I listen to mostly TWiT podcasts, TWiP, local sports radio podcasts, etc. but there would definitely be room on the iPod for some Trey wisdom.

Disqus is quite nice. Better than FB comments ;)

    Great shot there!

Just a warning about Disqus — on my blog, using the free version, many of my older comments have disappeared.  Not sure if that’s a bug, a documented feature, or difference between paid and free.

Nice peaceful waterfall. I love the silky water made with a long exposure time.  When I’m close to a waterfall the sound always makes me sleepy and I’m ready for a nap.  Not sure about the comment system yet.  Logging in each time is a painand remembering a password is a pain. Didn’t have to do that before

I’m with George – not sure about the new commenting system yet but that’s probably more to do with me being a dinosaur rather than because there’s anything wrong with it – I will adapt eventually……

Nice serene scene today – I like it :)

PS – The honour of having the first thumbnails under the new commenting system was all mine hehe :)

    Yes it was! hehe

Nice waterfall shot Trey! I know you’d probably never venture into western MA to find some of these small New England waterfalls, but there are some beauties here as well and I’m addicted to finding them!

  • Trey Ratcliff

I’ll see if we can figure out that PW thing – it IS annoying

  • Trey Ratcliff

We are working on that Podcast thing…  this year… soon!

I’m not sure about the new comment system yet since I haven’t had much opportunity to use it. I do know my preference isn’t Facebook. How do I get a thumbnail photo associated with my profile?

  • Julie Willson

I guess I forgot to comment on the photo. I like the silkiness of the waterfall & the bluish color of the water.

Amazing photo, Trey.  That sure was worth the hike!!!!  I’m doing everything on google chrome and I can’t set the photo on my desktop from here like I could from IE.  But I saved it and will go that route.  It is so beautiful!!!!  I love the colors, the water falls, etc!!!!  Thanks so much for posting, have a great Tuesday.  Smiley face, lol

Julie, at the bottom of the comment rectangle is +image, click on that, go to where your photos are stored in your computer and open the one you want, it will be on this screen, then.

Cool shot Trey!  Sounds like you all had a great trip.
Posted a cool sunset I almost missed.  Check it out at http://timetotakepictures.blogspot.com

Trey-I have always liked your shots but the new comments system seems to block scrolling to the shots from the previous days

Great image as always Trey. I wish there was a way to comment anonymously and without having to be logged in to fb, twitter, disqus etc.

Looking forward to more images in 2012! Keep it up Trey!

Thanks Gail!! I haven’t figurd it out yet!!!

A very mystical looking image, great stuff.

I logged in with Google and I’m kind of surprised it didn’t pull my G+ picture.

Great shot.  Love the new comment system, too!

Sounds great, let’s try it out! :)  Here is my recent shot from Paris. BTW Trey, thanks to you I visited the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle. It was great,  however they didn’t let me shoot with a tripod. I got what I wanted before the security came  up to me anyway, hehe.

I wound up going to Discus and registering a profile. I’ve noticed several sites using Discus lately and thought it would be helpful. All I did was upload a photo and verify my email address. I haven’t had any issues with logging in yet.

Keith, beautiful shot! We’ve had some amazing sunrises and sunsets in the last week. Love the colors and composition.

ooohh nice, i want to see New Zeland

  • Daniel Peckham

Wow, I was just there! I have a similar photo of that exact spot, but I liked this spot a little farther down the trail even better because of the red lichen on the rocks. See photo attached or here on my photoblog: http://focus.tracinglight.com/photos/333/Franz_Josef_Glacial_Valley/
