Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

I hope you all have a great new year! I look forward to spending 2012 with you… We have all kinds of fun stuff to see and do together this year – let’s have some fun :)

Daily Photo – As Night Settles on the Old Lake

Here is another photo that is too good to be true… and, unfortunately, it is.

This is a replica of Portofinio, Italy. It’s a resort hotel in Orlando, Florida at Universal Studios. It’s so wonderfully fake — and so wonderful at the same time. I can’t quite decide if I like the fakeness of it all. It does make for amazing photos, though, so that is cool. Maybe it’s kind of like a really hot girl that has had a lot of plastic surgery. There’s some fake in there, but it’s still nice to look at. Okay that’s a horrible analogy… but you get the idea…hehe.

    Happy New Year!

The photo is nice but that place doesn’t look nearly as good as the real Portofino in my opinion.

Have a happy and amazing new year all. Trey, enjoyed all your photos in 2011. Thanks for sharing. Hope for many more is 2012. (That’s the last time I get to say “amazing” That overworked word is now banished from my vocabulary) Lets see I can use astounding, astonishing awesome, stunning, wondrous and many more instead. All of these of course apply to today’s magnificent picture of a beautiful fake.

bahahaha… I like your randomly drawn analogies.

Ah, I was just there a few mornings ago – hoping to get my version of the Fishing Village in the fog. You see, we had fog the previous morning and the local weather people said we’d have fog again. I set my alarm and got up a few hours before dawn. Along the 35 mile drive, I didn’t see any fog. However, I kept going because fog is rather fleeting around here, and the temp has to be just right. I got there before dawn and…no fog. Not even a hint of it. Worse than that, just a completely pathetic sky. Wasn’t a decent photo to be had there at all that morning, though I tried. Having tried this a number of times, I decided to give up. No more! Next morning, we’re socked in with fog outside my window. The weather gods mock me.

I’m in the process of booking a trip to the Cinque Terre in January. It’s just south of Portofino so I’m wondering if I’ll be able to get up there as well. Then we could compare real and fake!

Cinque Terre is wonderful, especially if you enjoy hiking. We were there in August, absolutely beautiful views along the trails and the towns are charming. The area was hit hard by flooding this fall, however, and I’m not sure how far along the recovery process is, a couple of the towns were hit pretty badly, as was a portion of the hiking trail.
Getting to Portofino from Cinque Terre should be easy, it isn’t that far and the Italian train system is cheap and convenient, except for when they randomly go on strike.

    love your analogy :)

I can’t login, Trey.  This isn’t working.  I like the old way better. Ok, I had to set up a disqus account, I’m in now. Great photo, thanks for sharing. Have a great Monday!!

Gorgeous, GORGEOUS photo! I swear, if I had more time to travel and launch new sites, I’d create one exclusively dedicated to water reflection photos. Something about them always captures my imagination, perhaps because the reflection looks like some sort of otherworldly aletrantive universe…

It is very beautiful photo and your analogy is probably right on, or at least it is one that people in society can relate today, even if we shouldn’t  ;^)

Oh my…. that analogy is as hilarious as the photo is awesome! :) Thanks for a good laugh and the photo!
