Okay, this time I’ll give you guys a nearly impossible mystery. Who is this girl?
Here’s a bit of context. So, I stayed at Camp Walter at Burning Man with a nice group of people. One night, we all lit torches and went out with about 50 people as an Angry Mob. We walked up and down the streets and were angry about things. It was ridiculous and fun. This girl joined us, but she was not part of Camp Walter. She rode a bike and waved the torch in the air. I grabbed then when she sped by me.
It’s so expensive to rent a car in one city and drop off in another… In fact, it’s so darn high that I would not be surprised if there was some sort of a cabal going on… I end up doing this quite a bit because I like to fly to one place, explore, drive a long way, explore, and then fly out of a different airport. Of course, that’s not an issue in Iceland (today’s) photo. There’s only one international airport there!
Daily Photo – Lighthouse in Iceland
The northwest fjords in Iceland have quickly become one of my favorite areas of the country.
People ask me all the time, “I’m going to XXXX country, where should I go?” That is one of the reasons I created the new Stuck On Earth — for just that purpose. Now, when you zoom into Iceland, you’ll see a big collection of images up in this area. Whenever you see clusters of pins in one area versus another, you’ll get the general idea that one area has more photo hotspots than another.
New Video – First Live On Air Hangout
So, *this was just a test…not a real show*… but there was a little bit of photography talk mixed in there for sure. We had people from Australia, Sweden, Canada, Greece, New Zealand and the US in there!
Here’s a few highlights… We happen to have Helen Sotiriadis in there who was one of the finalists for the TWIT Photo contest. I talk about experiences of being a judge… and how it can suck more than you think.
Then I do a one-man intervention on the avatar of Billy Wilson.
We talk a bit with the three peeps from Google that joined: Colleen Kelly, Henry, Erica Joy and Ricardo Lagos.
And then all other kinds of conversations with Doug Kaye, Giuseppe Basile, Maximilian Majewski, Lisa Ng, Jim Davis and the great Karen Hutton where you’ll see a few behind-the-scenes things… and then a surprise appearance by Tom Anderson

Daily Photo – Zuck In Customs
I was able to have a bit of personal time with Mark Zuckerberg, who turns out to be a fan! I could not believe it when I saw a kind email from him… I had to look a few different times to see if one of my friends was playing a practical joke on me… Anyway, we meet this week here in California at the FB HQ and had a bit of personal time. I won’t go into the nature of the conversation because it was, well, personal — but I really had a nice time.
Obviously, I’m a fan of Facebook too, and these things tend to be a digital manifestation of somebody’s spirit. So, from that aspect before we met, I had attempted to reverse-engineer the man behind the product as sort of a mental exercise. And then when I met him, it was interesting to see all the various aspects of a person and how they differ from their magnum opus.

I’m out in California this week for a series of meetings and other fun activities. One of them was guest-hosting TWIT Photo! This was a special and fun thing, so I wanted to share it with y’all!

Daily Photo – Glacier in the Fog
Yesterday’s photo was of Glacier National Park, and today we have another glacier – but this one is from Argentina.
The glaciers in Glacier National Park are really quite boring. I’m sure that’s not a nice thing to say, but it’s true. The only ones I saw were quite far away and not very epic-looking. Maybe I was in the wrong place, so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong! 🙂
So, whenever I post a photo of Montana, I always know it will make Gail happy. So I like to see not only her comments, but all the other regulars… I also like how you all are getting to know one another. If you are on Google+ or Facebook, feel free to share your info so people can friend you in these other mediums as well!
Today’s photo has a bit of a German theme, so I know someone will be extra-happy… .or maybe William Beem because it’s from Disneyworld!
Daily Photo – Late Night in Germanville
This area of Epcot is one of the best for night photography. There was a little bit of light in the sky, so I had to make this shot as quickly as possible. I didn’t really have time to do a proper scouting, but this was such a nice situation, I made it happen as quickly as I could. I think my full-tripod-setup is under 25 seconds in these emergency situations.
Normally, I like to zen out and take my time. Others, like this, are the result of sheer, bloody panic.
Have you ever been on a PhotoWalk or PhotoWalk curious? I find that MOST people that come to these have never been on one before. So, it’s still a new thing to everyone. It’s generally my plan to come to YOUR city (or area!) to do one of these some day.
Daily Photo – The Cheerful Austin Christmas Dragon
It was a great PhotoWalk in Austin last night! Remember to tag your photos with #gplusaustin — and click around to see some stuff. We had over 100 sign up on plancast, and it got pretty crazy because a lot of people brought friends and family. It was a lot of fun to meet people.
We had one guy come in from South Africa, a gal Karen Hutton come in from California, and many more from all around the Texas area. Everyone we very nice and fun as usual.
I had an autographed 2012 calendar to give away, but I forgot! Sorry that was lame of me… I had it on the floorboard of my car and everything, but with getting the kids out and everything, I forgot – you know how it is.

Daily Photo: Peter Hudson Charon
This was one of my most difficult photos of 2011.
This amazing sculpture from Burning Man is the brilliant work of Peter Hudson. You may remember this scene from your mythology, where Charon rows the dead across the river Styx.
The sculpture requires at least six spectators to pull a series of ropes in a certain manner. Once the wheel starts spinning fast enough, strobes start flashing, animating the skeletons. Each of them was animated by a Pixar artist and there was a magical effect. Capturing the motion and the strobe all at once was extremely difficult. I thought about it for four days before finally taking the shot. I’m sure my Burning-Man-Buds Tom Anderson and Cliff Baise tired of me speculating about the shot!
My personal Facebook Profile (you can subscribe) has been using the new Timeline feature for a while, but you probably could not see it unless you were an FB developer that also had it turned on. But maybe everyone has it activated now? I was wondering… and are you enjoying your own timeline if you have it?

Daily Photo – Farmhouse and Roosting Birds at Dusk
I only got to stay in this magical place for one night.
If you’re really into birds, then you may notice a thing or two about this photo. Iceland is known for many species of birds, and you can see a bunch of them roosting back in the cliff there.
