The Temple Burn and Trey’s Hangout #18

Trey’s Hangout #18

This was a fun one! People involved were Tom Anderson (formerly MySpace), Bradley Horowitz (Google), Gordon Laing (CameraLabs.com), Tarah Gaa, and Lily L. We talk about our upcoming Yosemite PhotoWalk, equipment, and more.

Painting Video

I am releasing too many videos lately, yes? I won’t burden the front page with this… but if you want to watch me paint a little of this during a hangout and see more details, visit the “Temple Burn Painting” page.

Daily Photo – The Temple Burn

I had a photo of the “before” that I took of the temple at Burning Man.  I used that as a reference and then started to paint it as it was ensnared in flame… At the bottom is a video from a hangout while I was working on it…

My wife got me a painting kit for Christmas because I had mentioned a while back that I wanted to learn how to paint or draw, since you had mentioned learning to draw in one of your books. We’ll see how the results turn out, if I remember correctly I was never very good at art back in high school, but it’ll be fun.

Awesome job Trey. I think it looks fantastic. I thought it was a photo at first!

Have you ever thought about maybe getting something like commentluv for your blog, so when other photobloggers come and comment, people can easily click on a recent post next to their comment? I’m sure you know what it is. You might get more commenters that way! Just trying to help! BTW, how can I get into a hangout? I have never done one and would love to get on sometime.

By the way, Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year! What are you New Year’s plans Trey?

  • Gail Moshier

Wow, you are getting really good at painting, Trey!!! Love this one of the temple!!! We hope you had a very Merry Christmas. It won’t be long until we are posting in 2012. Time flies. :-)

    Thanks thanks :)

Adam – we have hangouts pretty often, and we open them up to the public at the end… As for the comments, we are moving to FB comments very soon! :)

I gotta join you in one of these hangouts, Trey. Looks like you guys have so much fun in them.

    Wonderful painting!

    Great painting, Trey!

Can I ask why you’re moving to FB comments? Maybe from a business POV it is nice, but I personally don’t like it at all. I find myself not commenting on whatever site uses them. Commenters end up being just one in a crowd… I don’t know how other people think about it though. FB is still one of the biggest platforms and has the largest “community” if you can call it that. But at least one other platform is growing and growing (and I know you like it!) and now you are committing to FB… Strange.

This painting makes me appreciate your photos more.
