The Cheerful Austin Christmas Dragon

PhotoWalks…

Have you ever been on a PhotoWalk or PhotoWalk curious? I find that MOST people that come to these have never been on one before. So, it’s still a new thing to everyone. It’s generally my plan to come to YOUR city (or area!) to do one of these some day.

Daily Photo – The Cheerful Austin Christmas Dragon

It was a great PhotoWalk in Austin last night! Remember to tag your photos with #gplusaustin — and click around to see some stuff. We had over 100 sign up on plancast, and it got pretty crazy because a lot of people brought friends and family. It was a lot of fun to meet people.

We had one guy come in from South Africa, a gal Karen Hutton come in from California, and many more from all around the Texas area. Everyone we very nice and fun as usual.

I had an autographed 2012 calendar to give away, but I forgot! Sorry that was lame of me… I had it on the floorboard of my car and everything, but with getting the kids out and everything, I forgot – you know how it is.

How I took the shot

Paul Terry Walhus was taking a video the whole time. You can see a bit more about the PhotoWalk and how I took this shot in the video below! Thanks Paul!

Wow … this is some insane Christmas getup! I’ve never seen anything like it! Thanks for sharing Trey :)

Cool Trey….the photowalk looks like fun and a great way to meet with new people who have similar interests!

What a crazy-cool capture! I wonder if they do crazy-themed things every year or if the dragon makes a reappearance for every Solstice?

Austin seems like it would be a great place for a photo walk, so many fantastic artists seem to share your City. Consider Fairhope, Alabama on your one-day – photo walk list. Their camera club, which I frankly just found out about, is very active..

    Their Flickr Group Linkage: http://www.flickr.com/groups/1353338@N25/

Anyway, that area provides numerous interesting opportunities for photography, I’d love to see what you came up with! I shoot it 4-5 times a year and still find new things. All good material for Stuck on Earth, in fact.

Nice! The walk looks fun, wish I could have come! I love when people get all excited about Christmas and decorating, it’s great to capture that.

Moab or Telluride would be good spots for you to come, you know. ;) Lots of beauty. Tons of photographers, of course, in this part of the world, too!

Cool shot! Too bad I can’t make it on one of these photowalks. The plane ticket would be somewhat expensive… :P

I would love to go on one of your photo walks, Trey!!! What a fantastic photo, it’s my new background. My hubby was just asking where the previous one in Iceland was taken. He thought it was good, too. Have a great Wednesday. :-)

I second Tyler. Kansas City Photowalk!

I signed up to go on the photowalk, but it didn’t work out for me at the last minute. Bummer!
The dragon was built by my friend’s son several years ago and has been a part of 37th St. Christmas since. There used to be quite a few more neighbors that would decorate, but several moved away and the remaining ones have been working to keep it going and encourage the new ones to participate. I’ll probably go down there next week and try my hand at some shots, with all the great inspiration from the #gplusaustin group!

Trey, you should come to Orlando and do a photowalk. Also, we don’t have to walk. We could hold the first HDR PhotoRun!

Please come to my city! Minneapolis MN! I lead a photogroup called Oh, Snap! and we would love to have you lead a photowalk!

Hi Trey, do a photowalk in Oregon and I will help you organize it. I’ve created an Oregon 500px meet-up group that has very talented photographers who I would invite to your event. If you’ve spent much time on 500px.com, you will notice that some of the most stunning landscape photography is coming out of the Pacific Northwest.

    Cheers,

    Paul

Everytime I see you in a video, giving speech or just talking to people etc., I say to myself something like: “Wow, I NEED to meet this guy someday…” After your super awesome photowalk in Prague, dinner is on me! :)

Fearsome dragon Trey! Love it, and the people in the background. You’ve inspired me to take a photowalk around my neighborhood and take some Christmas decoration shots. Come to San Diego for a photowalk. Lots of interesting places to take shots. We have a very active Photoshop user group here, about 3000 members. Stephen Burns is our leader. Maybe you heard of him.

I third the vote for a KC photowalk. What an interesting and unique Christmas decoration. I can’t say I like it, but it is creative. Excellent processing.

I think you’ve done an SF but I couldn’t make it, so another would be welcome! :)

Or a Berkeley photo walk could be fun!
