The Sorbonne

Thanks to the Stuck In Customs team!

Daily Photo – The Sorbonne

My friend (and website designer), Fabien Barral, met my wife and I in Paris to take us out to dinner. We left the hotel, and about 30 seconds out the door, we came across this street side cafe right by the Sorbonne, the famous university. Luckily, I think both of them were used to this behavior and chatted pleasantly while I snapped away.

I worked on this photo all day. People often ask me how long I work on photos. If you’ve seen the HDR Video Tutorial here on the site, you know it takes me anywhere from 15 minutes to three hours. This one was on the long side for sure… It was tough work, but I am happy with the results.

I love love this Trey – so warm and iviting with the lighting – I would have gone there immediately to eat! Great g+ chat tonight – enjoyed it – and Gonzo if you check in you kept me laughing the entire chat – tried to ‘chat’ back but forgot my sign in!

I enjoyed seeing this in the Hangout video this evening — Glad it is up full-res awesomeness. This kind of photo reminds me, Trey of just how much your work provoked me to get back involved in photography and continues to inspire me. Awesome work man – Thanks for what you do..

Would have loved to be at the Hangout mate, but sadly I’ve been bedridden with food poisoning all weekend :(
Interesting about processing times, I find myself in a similar situation… Often my photos take weeks with little bits of processing happening here and there. Mind you, I’m fairly obsessive about it, often spending time at 400% zoom cleaning up little details ;)

Great shot Trey! Love the atmosphere and culture mixed in one. I think you can tell it took a long time to process but the pay off has definitely been achieved.

Glorious shot and tremendous processing. The cafe on the right is beautifully lit and I love the way the light is bouncing up onto the under surface of trees on the left side. I think your time was well spent.

Trey fantastic work as always. Love the way you’ve processed this guy. Such warm tones from the right side of the image which really contrasts the rest.
