Under the Factory

You Use Klout?

I’m still confused by Klout; I keep getting emails that people are klouting me or something. Do you use it?

As I explored the abandoned airplane factories in this old section of Beijing, I went down into the basement level to see what I could find. There were all sorts of iron fixtures, strange knobs and wheels, semi-circular openings to kilns that had been bricked closed, and endless layers of peeling, scorched paint.

I wanted to go back to this whole area to explore more, but maybe next time. I think this will be a great area for the next PhotoWalk in Beijing!

    Neat shot. Its not my favorite, but still nice to look at. I have a Klout account, but I am in the same boat as you. Not really sure what purpose it serves or what the emails I have been getting really mean…

    My Klout is steadily dropping, which begs me to wonder why I would visit a site that thinks I’m failing. Klout, like gambling or war, is much more fun when you’re winning. Either way, I don’t see any value to the service. Even if I had a higher Klout score, I don’t think I could get anything meaningful in return.

    William – yes I know what you mean about Klout. I don’t really use it either… seems strange.

    From what little I’ve gleaned, Klout seems to be a metric of your influence in the social media world. Funny how all the folks I’m guessing would have good Klout scores really don’t care or pay attention to it. Guess you’re all too busy actually producing attractive social media content, eh?

    Cool urban exploration stuff here – it’s still something I’d love to have the guts to do more of. I’ve dabbled but never gone anywhere that might be dangerous – i like to keep myself at a safe distance. The first link below is to an old bike i discovered at a disused railway station in Glasgow and the second one was one of my first HDR’s that at an old asylum a few miles from my house that really creeped me out…..

    Trey, nice tones for this industrial space. One thing I have always wondered about your photographs is how you manage to capture such a great range of colors in areas that are dimly lit or have very subdued tones to start. Does this involve a number of hue/sat layers, post-prod in Topaz Adjust, or do your D3s just capture such a better color range than my D90? Thanks a lot, love your work!
