Airports in China

Incredible Asian Airports

If it’s wrong and racist to say that the Asians can build the best airports in the world, then I don’t want to be right. What’s the deal? How can they kick such airport ass? I don’t know… but I do appreciate it…

This shot was taken further inside the Beijing (PEK) airport as you are approaching the gate. I kept my tripod as carry-on here for a few reasons. First, so I could take photos in the airport. Second, so I would have it at landing just in case my bag was lost! That happened in Argentina once and I haven’t repeated that mistake since…

*Airports in China*Asian airports are some of the best in the world, eh?These architects must love designing them... they get to go crazy and try all kinds of experimental things. Not only are they huge, but the inventive lines and shapes make them virtually inexhaustible subjects for photography!

    Hy Patrick, its for the newbies also as we older we do repeat ourselves from time to time.When you hit 40 you start having seniors moments so we put it down that its for the newbies that have just joined in hehe!!!

    Love the shot. I used to spend my life in airports around the globe. The Incheon, Korea airport is also beautiful and very different from the outside.

    Love the vibrancy of the colors! I must say I love that airport but there is one in Brazil that tops all the rest for me at least.

    BTW the Beijing airport was designed by Foster and Partners. A UK company do I suppose it’s us Brits who “kick such airport ass” :-)

    Nice reflection! Trey, have you ever been to the old Beijing airport? You would revise the statement. Maybe China is changing but when we travelled through China we felt there is something missing, it was the sense for something beautiful: no picture on walls, no flowers on the tables only functional. Only in remote areas we still feel remains of their old culture.

    Cool shot! I seem to always get hasseled shooting in airports… What really frustrates me is that the Naples, Italy airport will not let me carry on a tripod, no matter how small. i even got turned around at security for having a gorillapod!!! I just got a new Gitzo Traveller and am in love with it. Great 600-700 dollar tripod if RRS tripods are too costly or out of stock (or won’t ship to you, as in my case!).
