Daily Photo – Pink Mountains During Morning Sunrise

Te Anau is a great little town down in the southern fjord area of New Zealand. It’s sort of the stopping-off point for Milford Sound and Doubtful Sound. It’s also a great home base for photography, because there are countless things to see within just a short drive. I woke up early one morning to drive out towards Doubtful Sound and I saw this scene in my rear-view mirror.

Beautiful….I can’t imagine being able to live there and see views like this all the time! Oh yeah, I’ve got a few hills – but nothing so magnificent as this!

Nice it’s a little different to the usual stuff today – I agree with Louis, I like the layers – well done!

Like a layer cake. Unusual composition – it works really well. Another unusual thing is the almost blank sky. You usually fine fantastic cloud formations. Of course that one streaky cloud sort of looks like icing on the cake.

Te Anau is lovely… I spent a few days there recently with a good friend. The weather wasn’t cooperative though, so I didn’t end up doing a great deal of photography. Trey, you guys missed one hell of a winter here… Thank god its not this cold anymore: http://edenbrackstone.com/2011/09/the-perfect-storm/

This is nice. I like turning the camera around in the early morning and getting that beautiful golden-pink lighting. Sometimes, that boring, cloudless sunrise can produce some amazing lighting for other objects. Love the Youtube stream. I just filmed my first little tutorial yesterday on my iPhone, taking a page from your book. Found an amazing Italian National Park in the mountains above Lake Garda. Posted the shot yesterday on my G+ stream, if you want to check it out! https://plus.google.com/u/0/109099193717756236849#118281061832654729973/posts

New Zealand looks amazing. I wish I could figure out a way to make a heap of money and go there for a while…. Nice photo Trey. I think you found the real reason for rear-view mirrors!

Great capture of the pink mountains, Trey. I changed my desktop from Cannon Beach to this one. A very stunning, beautiful photo. Have a great Saturday :-)

Beautiful shot Trey – we live on the opposite side of the Southern Alps, in Canterbury… we consider ourselves very fortunate to have such stunning scenery like this – superb! :-)
