The Streets of Zermatt

Thank you again for all the amazing suggestions for Switzerland. Obviously, I could not do all of them, but one of the great ones was the Glacier Express. Seven hours through the alps… it was amazing. And, it brought me here…

Daily Photo – The Streets of Zermatt

After dinner one evening, I went out with my iPod to explore the streets alone. There was a light cool rain, but it didn’t bother me a bit. It added to the mood and everything felt great. The warm cabins, the cool sky, the wet streets, people hurrying to and fro to get warm food and drinks… I do my best to capture this feeling all in one image.

    Hmm, I was gonna say “gorgeous” but Susan already said that and Ernie used “beautiful”. I’m running out of adjectives to describe your pictures. At any rate I enjoy them, every one. This one has an overall warm feel and I enjoy the details, like the flower boxes with blooming flowers.

    I like the mood, but – and this is the first time I recognize this in one of your photos – I think the angle is too much upward-facing. Know what I mean? ;) Maybe it’s just because of the wiiiiide angle, but I think there could/should have been more street and less sky in the frame.

    Hi Trey! This is a superb photo. I really love it and mean it. How do you achieve to get such details and clarity without getting grainy pictures? For example, the distinction between the roofs and the sky is spotless and the wood texture is so awesome!

    Very nice; looks warm and charming. Reminds me of being in Zermatt many years ago. Showed up without a hotel reservation and spent most of the afternoon looking for one. Finally found a tiny hotel at dusk in fog at the end of the road. Got a 2nd floor room and when I opened the curtains in the morning, there was the Matterhorn looming over us. Spactacular. I hope you have some of those to show us.

    Great photo Trey, I wanted to visit Zermatt during our trip through Europe earlier this year but we only had a few days in Switzerland and I decided it was better to spend all of our time in one place so that we didn’t waste too much time traveling. We stayed in the Bernese Oberland region, the views there were absolutely stunning, most of the time it looked more like a fantasy world than reality, it was like it was out of a storybook. We did a lot of hiking and we were literally stopping every 5 minutes to take in the scenery and take photos. Just thinking about it makes me happy.

    Zermatt is a beautiful place. It’s been a long time since i’ve been there. My wife and I got married in Lucerne last year our next trip we are planning to visit Zermatta again.
