The Haunting

Coming soon – Secret Fireworks Spot!

When I spent the day with Robert Scoble at Disney World, we were lucky enough to have a personalized tour from Keith Barrett. Keith showed me a secret spot to shoot the fireworks — very cool! I’m still working on that photo, but I will release as soon as I am done… it was a very challenging shot.

Daily Photo – The Haunting

And here is yet another from Disney!

So, I was sitting there in the Tower of Terror taking photos inside the first room into which the group is ushered. It’s the one where they show that Twilight Zone clip. Anyway, I just stayed in there as five groups came in and out, trying to get a photo. Eventually, the cast member asked me (in a nice way) what I was doing. I told her that I thought the room was awesome and I was capturing it for my blog. She seemed curious, so I whipped it out (my iPad).

She started going through my photos and was very excited. And then she told me to follow her, and she opened up the little gate that gave me full access to the lobby itself. I grabbed many photos, and here is one of them…

So now we all have Trey’s way to access secret locations….one just has to whip it out (hoping one has an ipad, otherwise…) :-)
Jokes aside, it’s yet another great shot. Fantastic job Trey.

Mitch thanks for your help yesterday and thank you Trey. Another nice colourful shot like the cobwebs on the old bid in the middleI

customer service win! I tried taking pics at Al Hambra in Granada, Spain. Even though I had very unobtrusive Gorilla POd (left the big tripod at the hotel) the security were still after me constantly. What’s the deal with all these tripod-haters??!?!?

  • Meleah

I thought this room looked familiar! You captured it well.

Super cool shot Trey – fantastic detail and texture on the walls… it just needs Herman Munster to appear now! ;-)

“She seemed curious, so I whipped it out (my iPad)” – hehe… classic! :-)

What a fantastic subject for HDR. Glad you had the time to take the shot – it’s another wonderful image in your collection.

Excellent photo Trey. I wish I was able to smooth talk my way as well as you. I just get told no, but now I have a real good reason to get an iPad. Of course, just so I could “whip it out”.

Really nice shot trey. The warmth and detail are perfect. In my quest for knowledge I’m wondering if this shot was double tone mapped?

The old pull out the Ipad trick….. nice one. I seems folks are so amazed when they acutally see a HDR shot, that they sorta get into that zone with you… nice story and great shot. This is a HDR converted to B&W with Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0, I had to pull out the Iphone to the security guard…… http://www.wowphotoshdr.com/Other/FEATURED/14413329_yegt6#1413998973_7X3FkFZ

    Trey,

Are you going to give away that secret spot in Disney? I’m a local and I can definitely make use of it when I go later this month.

    Thanks.

One of the things I enjoy about your Disney photos is that it reminds me how close I am to some cool stuff. I’ll have to see if that fireworks spot is one I’ve checked out before or not. I’m actually hoping I haven’t been to it, since that would give me something new to try (the joys of an Annual Pass).

Most of the time, all I see around here is suburban sprawl and shopping malls. It’s good to have a reminder that there’s still something visually interesting around, no matter where you live.

This is awesome! The lighting and detail you captured are amazing! This might be my favorite room at Disney World and it is definitely one of our favorite rides. Thanks for sharing such a cool story. (Now I want to see the Twilight Zone Room pic)

Amazing how receptive people can be when you put yourself out there. I find that it works more often than not. Nice you got a good result.

Tower of Terror will forever be know as the place I met Trey Ratcliff.

I can’t get enough of Disney shots Trey. I drive my wife crazy when we go, I’m always snapping away. Great pic bud.

Wow, I work down the street in the shops!
David – I’m jealous of you.
Trey – the range of colors that you captured are wonderful. I am the type to stop and stare at the scenery while everyone else is moving along but never spent much time in this room, so very cool.
My favorite spots are the EPCOT pavilions for all the surprising details they have. Ever look up at the ceiling in the Chinese rotunda? Amazing.

Great image, I love the perspective you were able to get, especially since it is somewhere that is familiar, yet has been displayed through your eyes. I guess that is why I enjoy all of your Disney captures. 95% of your posts are from somewhere exotic I may never have the opportunity to visit in my lifetime. It’s fun seeing something and recognizing it, yet still waiting for the full description to come into view until am sure of it. Thanks for posting!

Do you remember the cast member’s name, my sister works at that park and is in the position to give them a Disney style “atta-boy” for helping you out.

Amazing, especially the colors and clarity!
Trey – When doing shots like this as Disney, are you carrying around your tripod? Does anyone hassle you about it? Or are you hand-holding as best as possible? Thank you.
