Daily Photo – The Lantern in the Streets of Old China

My time in China was winding down, and I took a flight back to Beijing for a few more days of exploration. There is so much to see in the old city that my month there was still not enough! And on one of these final nights, I decided to visit this very old section of the city.

It’s very well maintained with bright, fresh red paint, restored ancient lanterns, ornate windows, and the like. And inside many of the ornate windows are all sorts of antiques and old Chinese curios. I went into several, and now I am kicking myself for not buying more stuff. They had a bunch of bundles of old Chinese photos. I can’t figure out why I didn’t buy them… I think, now, that I was just overwhelmed by all the stuff that was inside. But next time when I go back, I’ll get a few bundles and bring them home to hand out at some event! That seems like a good idea.

Beautiful and colorful Trey – love the reds and greens – I know what you mean about buying the photos – it’s a temptation!! Looking forward to the webinar tomorrow night!

  • I haven’t been feeling very well lately.
In fact I may not make very much longer folks.
My last wish is that you all check out this link.

I think that link pretty much says it all for me.
THIS COULD BE MY LAST WISH EVER SO CLICK ON THAT LINK, OK?

  • Great image Trey! I love the colors and how they just pop off the page. That street reminds me of ones I have seen in some old martial arts movies. Thanks for sharing the great images.

  • Hi Gonzo keep trying but if you have the flu then try a 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper in hot water, not nice but will take away the flu.Now for the more serious side of things other than Gonzo falling to bits which we will pick up later. Most old parts of China are very exiting but one gets tired of the red, green and gold . Just the old Cities are wonderful enough like old Shanghai or there near Yellow Mountain with classic water ways and water taxies.Yellow Mountain should not be left out for its beauty and breath taking scenery. Not forgetting the natural bonsai that grow there to. They are now restoring all the old cities turning them into restaurants coffee shops and so forth.Like the way you set up the lantern as a feature which then brings you down to the main topic.

  • Beautiful as usual. Downloading the update right now, thanks Trey! It’s too bad you’re sick Gonzo, maybe you would win this thing, but there is no chance you could survive all the hardcore photographing & processing with your flu! So maybe next time! πŸ™ πŸ˜‰ But thanks for letting us know, that you’re out of the game. Everyone check this commercial, you all might like it! πŸ™‚ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awq90APEVgw&feature=player_embedded

Nice shot Trey – the composition works well for me, I like the reds and greens too… it has a calm feeling to it all – excellent!
Filip – fabulous link, had me rolling with laughter… thanks!
Gonzo, or should that be GINO – oh yes, you’ve been rumbled dude – better start running now, yeah… just remember, you can run but you can’t hide! πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

  • Nice lighting and colors

  • Gonzo,LOL.

Light strips embedded in the street? Too Cool. +1 with Bibek, nice colors.

  • Awesome colors and capture of the lighting.

  • Love the photo. I understand the overload of what to buy in China. I too have been confronted with what to buy, how many, and can I get it home. I think I may have to go again, now that I love HDR.

  • Curio shops are excellent – I was in a vintage clothing store in Edinburgh recently and they had loads of curiosities on display. You could have spent hours in that place just looking at them and of course I wouldn’t have left without getting some shots, one of which i’ve linked below for everyone to take a peek at. Should you go back to this place will you get some HDR’s for us and if you buy the photos would you post them here too?
