The Barcelona Airport

Okay, Silver Efex 2 is Even Better

I mentioned my Silver Efex Pro Review recently and how I’ve been playing with the new version lately. I made this photo below the other night during the Webinar, and I’m happy to report that the new version is even better than the last! As you guys know, I don’t post a lot of B&W stuff, even though I do make a lot of them. Maybe I should post more?

Daily Photo – The Barcelona Airport II

This is another reason I like to get to airports early. Not only do I hate being rushed, but I like to take time to explore with my camera. Well, I guess that only is in the case where the airport happens to be particularly beautiful, like the one here in Barcelona.

I always start out extremely rushed, because I picture security closing down on me from every angle. So, my first shot is usually rushed and not perfectly centered. Then, if the guards don’t gang-tackle me like I’m streaking at Yankee Stadium, then I keep adjusting my position and the camera until things are more and more aligned and composed to my satisfaction. This one was even a little bit tilted, but I fixed that bit with the crop tool later in Photoshop (as people saw).

This is a cool shot Trey – has the look and quality of chrome! I liked alot of those tonight too on the webinar! Super job! Now where is Gonzo – he likes to be first more than me – maybe working on his photos?

I really like this one, but I miss the cool gold color tones of the one you ended up with during the webinar.

I like how the floor looks like it will turn into a terminator at any point… looks liquidy silver metal.

    Whu.. Whu .. What happened?
Last thing I remember I saw Trey’s Shuttle pic and I blacked out.
Did I just wake up? Wow. That’s one powerful pic Trey.

So, yeah, I dig this one too. Buuuut, is there anyway you can make the Barcelona Airport look like it’s disappearing into the clouds with a trail of Black smoke behind it? Guess I got addicted to the adrenaline. I feel like I need another hit Trey! Don’t make me go slumming in the dirty alleys, looking for some Skanky Lik photos. I need some more Ratcliff White bro.

So – Who won the Trey Almighty Trip to the Power Plant and the CS5???
Why are you making us wait dude?! Not Cool.

Patients,Gonzo all good things come to those that wait. I still like black and white shots this one is ok would like to see a little more omfffff. Maybe thats how you saw it.Would have loved to have had a go myself getting in close to the people and those reflections on the ground. But then we all see things different thats why art is in the eyes of the beholder. Thanks for sharing.

… hehe, nice one Gonzo – I like your humour bud… I think Trey should get you on the Stuck In Customs payroll ;-)
Now getting back to the photography… Trey – have you come back down to Earth mate? That image you posted yesterday sure has generated some interest on t’internet… and rightfully so!
Cool shot of Barcelona Airport – that place sure is going to be busy next week… what with Barca fans departing for UK shores to play my beloved Manchester United ‘football’ (not soccer) team in the Champions League Final… I’m a born and bred Mancunian I hasten to add – and proud of it too!… now living the dream in NZ :-)

  • Patrick Ahles

Hmm, had to go to the large version for this, it looks A LOT better than this one here.

  • http://www.danroads.com Dan

Haha Gonzo you do make me laugh, And Trey this almost looks like it has a mirror right the middle of it :P, Very symmetrical love it.

I’d probably prefer it in colour to be honest though, I need to get my self some photo’s inside I love how the shiny floors turn out in HDR. :)

This is one shot I decided to process last night: http://danroads.com/photography2/2011/05/grazing-sheep/

The clouds/sunset remind me of some of your photos, sorry to compare my ‘naff’ ones with your amazing photo’s but it’s how I rate my own hehe.

Hey Simon – all the best for Saturday 28th – may the best team win, and you know which one that is for me! LOL

We came through BCN last night on our way home from Stockholm. It was very quiet!

  • Gail in Montana

LOL@Gonzo!! Neat photo, Trey :-) Thanks for sharing, have a wonderful day.

hehe thanks everyone… good stuff… and thanks Gonzo – I hear from the admins that he sends lots of clever questions during the webinar too!

  • Ben Lee

Great shot – I love airports as well especially the new ones that often have those floor to ceiling windows. I took the following photo at Chep Lap Kok (Hong Kong).

It just so happens this photo has been converted into black and White with Silver Effects Pro too. Great programme and recommend it to everyone

The reflections here are what really get me. Great stuff. Gonzo– I’m not sure taking you on the trip, would be wise.. All of the shots would be all camera-shake-motion blurry, from laughter. :)

  • Wes

This is an awesome shot, I love all of the smooth gray highlights and symmetry. Definitely keep the B+W’s coming. Which lens did you use for this picture?

  • Mitch

Trey, the homepage for your website is taking quite a bit of time to load (it’s been getting worse the last few weeks). I just timed it and it’s taking over 30 seconds for the homepage to load. Trey, is there any way you can cut down on the objects on the page to get it to load faster?

  • thelonious gonzo

Simon – Pay? Me? To blather on and annoy people like I already do now? Dude. I like the way you think. I wonder what else I can get paid to do that I do now for free? I go to movies a lot. That’s gotta be worth a few greenbacks right there. I love watching Survivor. Always pull for Boston Rob. I wonder how much Les Moonves is willing to pay me for that? Wow. I’m glad I quit my job the other night. I gotta sit down and start figuring out how I’m going to spend all the money I’m about to start making. Trey, please make sure you spell my name right on the checks OK? Oh, and my name isn’t really Thelonious Gonzo.

  • http://www.petersheimages.com Michael Petersheim

Yes, Trey! You should definitely show us more of your B&W stuff…

  • Simon Morris

… aha, I thought as much – Thelonious Gonzo… fake/made-up name – tut, tut! Trey – sound all the alarm bells yeah, we have a scammer onboard… did, or did not said scammer once accuse Iain (winner of CS5) of having a fake/made-up name?!
I think our friend Thelonious Gonzo has some explaining to do, yeah! ;-) :-)

  • thelonious gonzo

Yes. I confess. I did it. I lied about my name. I was ashamed of my real name and tried to decieve you all. But you sniffed it out and now I must come clean. My real name is…
Uh… hold on. I got a call coming in. Be right back.

  • Lee

I think you should clean your sensor, as the same dust spots just keep on appearing……

Amazing shot, loved watching you do the processing in your video-course. This shot inspired me to try something similar at Cape Town International airport.. Thanks always for sharing your amazing pics.
