See you on Thursday!

I’ve just gotten into Carmel after a long day of taking photos off Hwy 1. It was a good day! And soon, I’m getting to San Jose to give this talk at Adobe. It’s a free event… The talk is on Feb 24 at 1 PM PDT in the Park Auditorium at 345 Park Ave in San Jose. Below is a preview of the first slide! :)

Daily Photo – Underlondon

After a day of “working hard” by meandering all over London to take photos, we ended up here at this cool restaurant. I’m sure some of our clever UK readers know exactly which one it is!

It was one of those places where you walk in and see 30 different kinds of bread. So then, there is no choice left, and you simply have to get bread. I can sometimes have good bread-willpower, but not when I am presented with so many choices. It’s sort of like peer-pressure… and every one of those different kinds of bread is a sentient being, beckoning me to eat em up.

Cool picture. Reminds me of a restaurant called the Salt Cellar in Scottsdale, AZ.

  • http://www.sjhphoto.com Scott

Oh, and I like the fourth icon best (all the way to the right)

  • http://www.kelleybard.com Kelley Bard

Love the glow in the image, nice warm touch. Icon: I like the third from left, it seems like the one with the most realistic leather look.

  • newelly

    #3 looks good to me

  • http://www.gregoryfryephotography.com Gregory

The left/first icon I think will stand out the best on the iPhone as it is the brightest and has the most pop.

I like the texture of the 2nd icon, just a bit too dark. If the 2nd icon was the same color as the first one, only that texture, it would be my pick instead.

The darker icons can get lost a bit more with a darker background. Plus they are not going to be the size shown here, but much smaller, scale matters.

Love the app by the way, very fun.

  • Susan

Cool looking restaurant! I can’t resist bread at all! Strangely I like #1 the best – I don’t think I’ve ever seen a camera like that!

  • “The” Gino

2nd pic from the left is my vote.
And, “…every one of those different kinds of bread is a sentient being, beckoning me to eat em up.” Muhahahaha !!!! Trey. Dude. You’re killing me. That line all by itself was so stupid it made my day. I mean that in the best possible way. Of course. I mean, if your best internet blog reading buds can’t call you out, well, who can? Nothin’ but love Home Skillet.
The 24th is my birth day so I’m going to treat myself by taking some time off and listening to your Adobe speech. After all the money I’ve given those people I think they owe me a free web event.

Going to London in a few weeks, would love to know where this is!

  • http://hdrshooter.wordpress.com Miroslav Petrasko

either the first icon, because of the contrast of light background to the dark center, or the last one, just because I like the texture used :)

  • JennaLis

Love the far-right (fourth from the left, if you prefer written that way!). dark chocolate leather looks gorgeous, and imagining those icons smaller, the texture won’t be too busy for its smaller size.

I like the two on the left – they look a bit weather beaten as if they have been on an adventure with Indiana Jones – perfect for a ‘Stuck In Customs’ product.

Great photo today – i have no Idea where this is but the bread talk is making me hungry.

So at the end of last month I took a day-off from work and spent the day wandering around my home city of Glasgow with the camera and managed to get some great shots (some of my best so far i reckon) which I would love to share with everyone here – hope y’all enjoy…..

  • http://web.me.com/jackbeasley Jack Beasley

I like the first one. It’s bright & would look good on an iPhone.

  • http://none Louis

like the 3rd from left its not from my Yashica635 i just checked but similar and looks the same age.
nice pic but not your best, keep sharing as they keep asking whats the name of that blog you mentioned.he he

  • http://twitter.com/cliffclf CLF

I vote for 2nd icon from right.

  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/fullcex/ Filip Farag

First one! Great shot, feels warm and cozy. BTW I loved yesterday story about Hans, but I was dissapointed a little about your collection, where is The Last Samurai?? I missed some track from Tears Of The Sun (Soundtrack is 30times better than the movie) too.

This would be in my TOP 5 for sure. :)

  • http://www.flickr.com/cliffbaise Cliff Baise

I like the 3rd icon from the left. Reminds me of an old Kodak my grandpa gave me. I love the pic of the firedancer you posted a few days ago. Check out the shot of the firedancers I took. Trying to prepare for the burn!

  • http://www.pshots-photography.com Phil

Hi, I prefer the first one. Is it possible you can port this ap on Android as well ?!

  • http://www.bycostello.com bycostello

Loveing the post production you’ve done to colours and tones…

  • Matt

All the way to the left… and nice shot! I love the way indoor wood grain always pops in these.

  • haveacupoftea

I reckon it’s one of the “Le Pain Quotidien” shops, though hard to tell which one in London – there’s something Southbank-y in the architecture. BTW, don’t be tricked by the French name, like fries it’s Belgian!

  • http://Www.danroads.com Dan Roads

2nd from left Trey, shows the detail and matches site better :).
Love the picture, reminds me of a london underground station the way the roof curves :)
    Nice one

  • http://www.murphyz.co.uk Michael Murphy

Agree with haveacupoftea – this is the Le Pain Quotidien at the Royal Festival Hall. Also, I think I like icon #1 the best.

  • http://www.raymakphotography.com Kamyar Broumand

Second from the left! great stuff!

  • Cindy Williams

The first one. Reminesent of an old camera skin that has traveled well.

  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/coolhdr/ Chris

    1st on the left.

  • http://www.bfhstudios.com/blog Brian Hoffsis

First one. Second one is my second choice. Oh and ask Adobe for me why their software has to check for updates every time I launch the media encoder. Ugggh!

  • http://www.nickagar.com Nick

The left one clearly matches your colour scheme.
Got me puzzling about the bread place, but I just glanced upwards and saw the answer in the comments! South Bank here I come!

  • Rob

I like #2 (second from the left) the best. Looking fwd to the update

  • Greg

I like the first icon (the leftmost one)…

  • Gail in Montana

I like the second one from the right, like the texture of that one and color. Great photo, Trey. I could get carried away on bread, too, but don’t dare. I love breads with whole grains of all kinds the best. Great story and wonderful photo, would love to visit that place in London!! Have a great Wednesday. Suppose to be snowy and windy here, yipee. Come on SUMMER!!

  • http://timetotakepictures.blogspot.com Keith

Cool Picture and I have to agree with Andy, I like the far left best! Looks like Stuck in Customs.
Check out my latest http://timetotakepictures.blogspot.com hope you like it.

  • Nathan

I like the second from the left! The weathered look with detail still grabs you even though it’s a bit more subdued.

  • http://rachelrufferphotography.wordpress.com Rachel

Please, please, please make an android app as well. Nobody is showing us the love in camera apps!! :(:(

  • Sylvain

second from the left for me!

  • http://fontenotmedia.com Joe Fontenot

My opinion changed a little when I remembered this was going to be small and mixed with a lot other little apps on my phone. Based on this, the 1st and 2nd are my favs, with the 2nd being the best, to me.

  • http://www.fade Matt

    #3 for sure!

  • Clifford

The icons are too big. What will the icon look like when it’s iphone screen size?

  • Patrick

Icon #1. It is the brightest.

  • Ernie

Hey, is this a psychology test :-) . I like the second one from the left.

  • http://mikechepurin.com Mike

    second from left

  • http://MarkJQuintanilla Mark

The 1st one on the left.

  • http://www.marcofama.it/ Marco Famà

    wow Trey! This is awesome!
Been in London for several times, never enjoyed such a restaurant :)

    take care mate

  • http://www.stuckincustoms.com Trey Ratcliff

Hehe thanks for the opinions — it’s all over the place! Now I’m more confused than ever!

And like Michael said, it is Le Pain Quotidien at the Royal Festival Hall

  • Trevor Driscoll

I like the 2nd and fourth one but maybe you should make a poll, that might make things easier.

  • http://www.hito.fr hito

The 2 first looks good but i prefer the second.
The 2 last is a bit too dark in my opinion :)

  • http://atomicego.com/kevin Kevin

I vote for #3… BUT… I would like it a LOT better, if I could see it in use, at actual size on the phone.

  • Z

The second one from the right.

  • http://www.flickr.com/photos/edenbrackstone/5467170541/ Eden Brackstone.

My vote: First icon for the new app version, the lighter background texture provides more contrast for the darker lens and wallpapers ;-)
Great shot of the pub, love the cozy atmosphere…

  • Dylan Alvarez

Beautiful atmosphere and amazing texture in that ceiling! Nice and cozy shot. I vote for the #2 (second from the left) mostly because depending on the different types of backgrounds on iPhones, this color is most likely the one to “stand out” the most because it’s in the mid-range. Also, the lighter ones “show” the texture better than the last two. Great photo, keep ‘em coming!

  • http://www.kelleybard.com Kelley Bard

Hey, I hope you get a chance to explore Santa Cruz or San Francisco while you are nearby… there is lots of good stuff in SF, of course, but Santa Cruz has a great beachside amusement park and lots of beach/surf images… Natural Bridges State Park is amazing and the road between the two (hwy 1) has endless beautiful vistas. Just a thought… ;)

  • Matthew Langjahr

    Second from the left!

  • Simon Morris

Great designs Trey… I like the 3rd icon from the left :-)
As for the image… wonderful detail shown in the brick ceiling!

  • Dave

Against a black background, the first two icons look best….I personally like the first one on the far left.

  • http://michael.tyson.id.au Michael Tyson

    Fourth please :)

  • Hampus R

  • Aaron

I like the second one from the right.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=532382986 AdrianKWhite

Definitely the 3rd from the right!! Great contrast, and to me, the most eye-popping.

  • http://www.jasonteale.com Jason Teale

I think 3rd from the left. It caught my eye right away and I think has the most texture. I think for an iphone icon the texture will stand out from the rest.

  • http://www.LayeredLife.com/ Daniel

I like the first one cause the name doesn’t get lost in all the darker tones.. Good luck on your final decision.

  • Kyle

Number 2 from the left looks good.

  • http://SterlingStudiosInc.com Gavin Anderson

I like the second icon (from the left) the best. It gives a warm feeling, a little detail on the leather, but not too overpowering.

  • http://www.ehfoto.nl Eddie

    Great photo!

  • http://thetravelingdesigner.com Griffin Stewart

Love the new icon concept! The far right is my favorite!

  • http://thatvoiceoverpodcast.com how to do voiceovers

Great goods from you, man. I’ve understand your stuff previous to and you’re just too excellent. I really like what you have acquired here, certainly like what you’re saying and the way in which you say it. You make it enjoyable and you still care for to keep it sensible. I can’t wait to read far more from you. This is really a great website.
