Six Girls in New Zealand Getting Meat

New Silver Efex Pro Shot

In my few workshops, I always take time to show off this tool. If you want to see more, see my Silver Efex Pro Review here on the site. For those of you that have tried it before, then I probably don’t even need to tell you!

Since you guys know I am kind of a color-centric kind of guy, this thing has to be pretty cool in order for me to use it… Actually, I’d like to do a great deal more black & white stuff, but I know most people like the colorful stuff. I’ll continue to sprinkle these in from time to time if that is okay!

Daily Photo – Six Girls in New Zealand Getting Meat

While on a long drive from the Coromandel to Matamata (where The Shire is), we pulled into this pizza place to stock up on some much needed carbs. I saw these six girls lined up so perfectly, I had to grab a quick shot.

Most places in New Zealand outside of the cities seem to shut down about 8 PM. I had to start getting used to planning ahead to get dinner! It’s hard for me because I usually just go go go go until after sunset, taking photos like a madman… and THEN I think about dinner. But that trick doesn’t really work when you’re on the road there…

Love the picture! Your comment about getting food reminds me of when I was cycling in France we ended up starving every sundays because everything was closed and we we never thought as far as the next day for food.
    cheers!

    Great photo! Catchy title :)

I was wondering Trey, what you do when you take pictures of people, do you ask first, then take the photo, or do you just take the photo and move on?

On the same note, I found this great photographer Garry Winogrand, that has a knack at taking photos of strangers:

    Thank you.

    Trey,

Did you do any HDR or Tone Mapping post processing to this photo or just SIlver EFX

    Thank you,

LOL, Trey, I didn’t know what to expect when I read the “title” . I’m calling it “Six Girls in New Zealand Getting Meals” when I post it on facebook, lol. A lot of different pictures come to mind when I read meat ;-). I agree with casusan, could be from the 60’s, except for the clothing they have on. We didn’t wear that sort back then, lol. Thanks for sharing another B&W photo with us. :-)

Thanks everyone – glad you like this one – maybe I will post more B&Ws ! :)

Deyson – no – this is just silver efex pro – no HDR. Also – no – I just take the photos – I rarely ask.

Nice Shot Trey. Lately I’ve been really liking the B&W stuff. I used to do a lot of street photography back in the 60’s. B&W was the only way we could work. Love the color HDRs but I’ve been wanting to turn my attention to Chicago’s fantastic architecture in B&W,perhaps with ND10. Just have to get up early before the city fills up. Love Silver Efex Pro. And yes, I did get that education discount. “Hehe” :) Barb sez hi.

Great shot, Trey. This reminds me of an amazing little burger joint in Queenstown called Fergburger. I hope you had a chance to stop by there?

Great shot. Just what NZ girls look like -no makeup, hair pulled back and beautiful (dodgy title though)!

Wonderful photograph Trey. The fact that only one of the girls is smiling into the camera really makes it work, IMO.

nice and interesting, they are have different things going on with them.

were you worried that it wouldn’t look right with an even number of girls? I guess the 3 signs balances the odd rule out in this.

    Great title, great image…

  • Jennifer

This is a wonderful photograph! I love the black and white, different then most of the work I have seen of yours. You managed to capture such a great moment that looks so very natural. Like someone else had said before this image definitely reminds me of the blind fold photography that Garry Winnogrand did. It is very well balanced without looking too posed. I love how the three signs are just slightly off center, it adds so much character to the image. The expression on each of the girls faces is very interesting. Nice work once again!

This is the kind of photography that fascinates me, local color, culture, and culture. I’m bored with the pictures of national monuments and the pictures of things weve all seen before.

I like to see the real things people do in places around the world, I would prefer to see a picture of a local at the supermarket checkout than yet another shot of big ben.

  • Casper van Zyl

    Love the black and white
