Exploring the Valleys Beyond the Fjords of Akureyri

I had always wanted to visit fjords ever since reading The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy as a kid… picturing Slartibartfast carving them up was something that always stuck in my mind. The first ones I got to visit were in Iceland after I went up north to stay in Akureyri for a few days. I had actually intended to go one place that my friend Helga suggested, but I ended up getting lost, which is okay enough. This fjord valley kept going and going as the sun started to rise over the edges. I pulled over every few miles whenever the moment seemed right to shoot, and it seemed right so often!

Wow, Trey, what a beautiful picture. The clouds are so dramatic, the snowy hills, and then the greenery along the stream. This scene has it all. No human activity, other than the fence, really makes this picture extra special. We can see scenery so similar to this out here in Montana. Amazing how much of the world is so similar in many ways, and yet so different. Thanks for sharing!!

did you incorporate lucis into this? I am just asking due to the grass in the foreground. I very much like it and I am trying to justify the price.

Iceland is a place of beauty and fully interests me. I want to visit it for a few weeks to see more than a week can give someone. Would you be so kind as to do a write up of your time in iceland – maybe a tips and tricks for getting around? I would love it.

There is so much to admire in the pictue. Not just the clouds and the light but the road?, fence and the dry grass.

Beautiful shot. Do you travel to Iceland very often or your pictures are from before and you are just posting them? I remember all the pictures that you have from Iceland are just so beautiful and the sky is amazingly beautiful!

    Thank you very much yall

Yes I did use a bit of lucis on it! :)

I’ve only been to Iceland twice… the second time I was there, I took some extra time to myself and was just extremely productive with my shooting time! :)
