A Good Ol’ Texas Revival

I drove down to Houston this weekend to meet some friends, and I took my time about it, so I might find a few things here or there. Well, I found a bunch!

The sun started to set as I was approaching Brenham (home of Blue Bell Ice Cream, as a few of you dessert-lovers like me already know), I came across a Roadside Revival!

So, those of you from overseas or those not familiar with the Christian sects and various mathic practices of arks in the south may never have heard of a Revival. These usually feature a firebrand ENTJ, who, happens to share the same Myers-Briggs as yours truly, and a happenstance clustering of believers who come to testify amidst fellow revelers, gesticulating about as 18-wheelers rumble along in the background.

Never seen a roadside revival (must be something to do with being from NJ)

You waxed quite eloquent in your description but i think your photo spoke a even purer language.
Love the setting and the green blue of the chairs.

    What lense did ou use?
I’m happy with a 11-16 from Tokina that gives a similar half-fisheye appearance.
    Again, nice work.

Dude…I’ve been out ‘getting lost’ on the backroads of Texas while off on vacation, and it’s amazing how many of the authentic, old, wooden pavillion revival ‘tents’ are still out there…I always feel like I found a treasure when I come across them!

    Here’s the latest ‘find’:

AHAHAH!!!! Trey, I LOVE it. It reminds me of that one time I was cutting across the Lone Star state…headed towards Houston…cutting throw a town that TOTALLY reminded me of Texas Chainsaw Massacre…scary…but totally “ooh-aahh” at the same time…like this pic made me do! :)

What a great picture, Trey!!! It’s been a long time since I have been to a revival, and it was in a church at the time(when I was a teenager, lol). They hold one in the Bitterroot Valley once a summer. But I haven’t stopped at it. Anyway, it may be a small gathering, but as long as two or more are gathered together, God is there. Glad you feel the way you do. See ya in Heaven someday, since I won’t get to meet you on earth ;-) !! Keep taking those breath-taking pictures. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in 2009!!!!!

Awesome shot Trey! For reason this is one of my favorites of yours. I believe the meaning and speculation that can be evoked from this image is mind boggling.

I get the impression of “Gulf drifter” clouds in full motion across the sky.

Awesome shot. Were the chairs really that odd sea foam greenish color? And am I the only one who is scared for humanity that these things still exist in the states?
