New Topaz Adjust 4 Released - Used it on the first photo from New Zealand!

My family and I are having a great time in New Zealand. I have just released the first photo from NZ, and I used Topaz Adjust 4 on it! Now, many of you that already read my Topaz Adjust Review have already bought it, so you will be happy to know this is a FREE upgrade! How cool... I love it when these companies do that stuff. If you don't have this tool yet, I highly recommend it... even if you are just taking family photos and snapshots - it adds so much!

The first photo from New Zealand is the Franz Josef Glacier, and I think you will see it is absolutely awesome. My son and I had a blast exploring the base, although it was a little sketchy at times because I was always a bit worried ice would cleave off and send us running for our lives! This was not, needless to say, a mission in which mom was involved!

Newsletter First Look Video - What's in Trey's Camera Bag?

I try to give Newsletter subscribers the first look at special things, and today we have a new video for you! Cali Lewis and John P met me for lunch in Texas before I left to New Zealand, and they got a look inside my bag. I know people are often curious about what is inside, since we are all just camera geeks after all, right? Hehe yes.. Here is the video of Trey's "Geektastic" Bag.

Moving to SmugMug

I recently made a post called How to Create an Online Portfolio after moving mine to SmugMug. I think their service is great! There are a few weaknesses, but they are minor to me. I think it's also a great solution even if you are not a professional and just want a great way to share your family and other photos online.

Perhaps one of the greatest reasons is this. If you are lucky, people will only spend a few seconds with your photos. If you are really lucky, they will spend more time than that -- when they spend those few seconds, you want your photo presented in the best way possible. I'm still going to continue to post to Flickr too, but, if you notice, now when you click on new photos, they will blow up to the biggest possible size on SmugMug. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the review and the suggestion -- let me know what you think!

Speaking at the Google HQ on Photography!

I was so honored to be invited to speak at Google. I did not feel worthy! You can watch the video here. I talked a lot about HDR photography, the controversy, common issues, the art, the science, and everything in between. Enjoy!

Upcoming Photowalk in Christchurch, NZ

There is a free photowalk coming up in Christchurch. If you are in the area, you are welcome to attend! After, there is a talk -- I believe the fee is $10, which goes to the organizers (not me) for wine and cheese and the venue. We had a great time at the one in Auckland, and I look forward to meeting all of you from the south island! Full Details on NZ Photowalks here.

Hans Zimmer Update

You simply must see "A Visit to Hans Zimmer's Studio"! Last newsletter, I asked my audience if there was someone that might know or be a few degrees from Hans Zimmer. Within a few hours, I had a response and ended up visiting his studio near Hollywood a few days later! Thanks so much to you guys for really looking into this for me! I haven't met him yet, but I may be able to on my next trip out the LA... I feel like such a fanboy! But, I'll be cool when I meet him... be cool Trey be cool... don't say anything STUPID... be cool... relax... breathe...

How do I make so many images? CHOCOLATE

It is well-known that I am a connoisseur of chocolate and, often, when I am not consuming it, I am thinking of consuming it. Like an Aztec king, I prefer to have a mug of thick drinking chocolate that would make the average person gasp with an incredulous sound.

To that end, I've modified the donation bit of the site where you can help give back by assisting in this addiction. It's okay. I can stop any time I want. Really.
