Books are shipping soon! Less than a week avail for pre-order
For anyone still interested in buying a book that has yet to do it, please note there are just a few days left to get one of the special packages (such as the one that comes with Limited Edition print). You can get the details on the "A World in HDR" page. We are cutting it off on December 6th at 11:59 PM CST. After that, we will never offer these particular prints again.
First print in Numbered Series on eBay
For those of you that are collectors, you know there it is special to get 1/xxx (that xxx being the total number of prints in the series). We don't yet know what that number is (we will on Dec 7!).
We have a live auction running on eBay (you are the first to know if you opened this in the first day). Besides the opportunity to win the first print, you will also get a signed book. I'll call the winner of the auction and see how I should sign it, in case you want it personally made out to you. I'll put whatever you want on there, "To Sarah, my #1 Fan" or "Thank you Larry, you are the best shaven man I have ever met" or "To Brumhilda, my #1 Stalker" or whatever!
The print is called "The Lonely Road to the Dinosaur Dig". It was taken one evening in northern Montana near the Canadian border. I was on a dinosaur dig with Jack Horner and had taken an ATV out on a joy ride one night. It unceremoniously caught on fire, and left me stranded a long way from home with just my camera and the sunset.
As with the other books that are sold, a percentage of all profits from this auction also goes to the non-profit Kiva, as described on the Charity page. So far, the effort has raised over $2,000!
Cali Lewis, Geekbrief.TV, and Stuck in Motion
I was recently in New York, and I had a good time hanging out with Cali Lewis from Geekbrief TV. When I got back, I was surprised to see that she put together a segment talking about it, linking to our Stuck In Motion video stuff in her Geekbrief.TV episode on Gift Guide 2009, Gifts for Dad. If you guys don't subscribe to that podcast, then you should! I usually find a few cool things per week in it! Also, if you are pokin' around for unique gifts for the holidays, it's a great source for that too.
Upcoming Articles of Note
I'm guest-blogging a few places soon. I've taken time to put together some new and cogent thoughts on a variety of topics, so I hope they will be interesting and insightful to you!
The first one will be on Scott Kelby's blog. I'm entitling the article "Being an Artist Sucks. Being an Artist is Awesome." It's a different sort of article about what makes me (and maybe you) tick.
The second one will be on Scott Bourne's blog, and that will be a full analysis and description of Black and White HDR Photography. I am meeting Scott in the middle of January over a weekend in Tampa to do a smaller HDR Workshop. More info on that soon.

Two New Videos Soon
Nikon has a new video contest and the winner gets $100,000. I'm doing something unique for it. The requirements are a 140-seconds of something fresh. I can do that! It should be online on Dec 10th after I unveil it at the Austin Party on Dec 9th. Get ready, because I think it's gonna be awesome! If I win, I'll throw a giant party and invite you all! :)
If you are into video, you can try it too! It looks like a fun contest. Be sure to send me a link to your work!
I have a 10+ minute instructional video for free coming up around Dec 13th or so. It was also shot at Yellowstone and is an extended description of how I took a photo of the amazing Grand Prismatic spring. There were some special settings required for the shot, and I think it should be both helpful and entertaining!

This community is strong because people like you take the time to forward this to your friends and family. The newsletter is totally free, and one of the few things I ask is that you share the art freely and widely. If you like it, chances are that people around you will like it too.
If you have any suggestions or feedback on how we can improve the newsletter or the site, please leave them at the Newsletter page. I do read ALL comments, but I do not have time to respond. My apologies... but at least everything makes it into my head-region!
