Time Lapse Photography Tutorial

Time Lapse Example

So, I LOVE Timelapses. I can’t stop watching them for some reason! I recently published my own timelapse below after my move to New Zealand. It’s called 30 Days and 30 Nights in Queenstown.

(In Germany or can’t see the YouTube video? Here is the Vimeo Version.)

Below is a video I made that shows the how-to of the video above. It’s fast paced, and I used a lot of cool tools to make it happen. Below, I’m listing out all the tools that I used in the production of the timelapse.

  • nice job but can you upload a video or tell us about the camera setup and the equipment used on the locations and camera settings that will be really appreciated

  • This is awesome Trey. Time lapse seems to me to be the most difficult form of photography. I am trying to learn it and you recommendations are very helpful. I think I need Lightroom although I have photoshop. Do you recommend that for Time Lapse?

How do you take bracketed exposures for time lapses with the A7r? At this point, I’m tethering my laptop as the only way to do intervalometer, but it doesn’t allow bracketing. Any in-camera apps you’d recommend or some other work around?

  • I really like your post. It’s evident that you have a lot knowledge on this topic. Your points are well made and informative. Thank you so much.
