Daily Photo – More from Monte Carlo

This was the final photo I took before leaving Monte Carlo to head off for Cinque Terre. I like it when I have these kooky, organic plans that come together. Of course, it drives the team crazy because my plans sometimes feel impossible to pull off. It started in Barcelona… I said, “Hey, let’s leave early in the morning on our bus, stop in Nice for breakfast and mimosas, then hike up to Eze for lunch, then end up in Monte Carlo for dinner. It worked flawlessly!

The Other Side of Monte Carlo

Manual Focus

Here’s a new technique I’ve been doing for the last year or so… now at sunset and night, I only do manual focus. I don’t completely trust the autofocus at night… and since I’m using a mirrorless camera, I’m guaranteed to get a sharp shot if I zoom into 100% while manual focusing.

Daily Photo – The Other Side of Monte Carlo

Or maybe this is better described as the main side. When we stopped here in Monaco, we had an uber drop us off. He asked where we wanted to be dropped off, and I just said, “The Harbor where all the boats are.” Then he told me there were two of them, and I had no idea. I picked the wrong one… I picked the one that is more boring and there’s really not much around it. I MEANT to go to this part… but, in the good news category, it gave me an excuse to climb this mini-mountain to get this shot right after dinner.

New Studio!

Hey it’s my birthday and I gave myself a present! I re-decorated my entire studio/cottage. It was a huge project and it took about 6 weeks to finish. I’ll be sure to take some photos of it and share… and I’ll make a little video for Passport members as well!

Daily Photo – Monte Carlo from the Hill

There’s a big hill/mountain thing that seperates Monte Carlo into two parts. Both sides have a harbor with billionaire’s yachts and are very beautiful. Our uber dropped us off down there at the bottom. I looked up to the top of this hill (where I stood to take this photo), and I was thinking, “Hell, I don’t want to walk all the way up there.” So I tried to call an uber, but there were none in the area. And no taxis either. It’s a very residential area, so I ended up having to walk all the way up! But that’s okay… it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought.
