In a way, these remind me of the Koloss from the Mistborn series, which is a book series I recommend. They were these crazy creatures from the book that just have extra skin that they grow into, and as they get older, it gets super-stretchy and starts to crack. But I’ve always wondered why elephants seem to have so much extra skin

The thing that struck me most about the elephants was how silent they were as they moved about. I don’t know what the bottom of their feet are like, but they appear to be super-soft and cushy. I doubt they are, since they can walk on anything, any time, at any temperature. I don’t know how something can be so tough and quiet at the same time!
