A Beach for your Thoughts

The Cloud Whisperer

Someone called me the Cloud Whisperer on a recent PhotoWalk and I thought it was kind of funny. I do watch the clouds a lot and analyze them like Kvothe thinks about the wind… and I do sometimes see things that are coming before they come.

But I’ve also noticed that some places have amazing clouds on a consistant basis. One of these is here on the south island of New Zealand. Where have you noticed a fairly regular supply of interesting clouds?

Daily Photo – A Beach for your Thoughts

Another night on Virgin Gorda… another perfect beach and sunset…

Since it was so perfect every night I was there, I simply could not go without taking a sunset/beach photo. I simply could not deny myself! And then every night I would think to myself, “Well I’m glad I got that because tomorrow night there will be bad light and no clouds.” But I was always wrong. Every single night had a crazy light/cloud situation!

Lovely beach scene Trey – this is how we all picture our vacation being I think!

Very nice Trey ,one of the few you did in thirds, not that it is that important but it works here very well. On the video the other night the radio producer had fudge from your mum does the good lady ship it out,we’ll stand in line,we all have a sweet tooth in our family. Heard nothing from Sydney photo walk hope all went OK.

  • It’s Kvothe, with an “e”. (It’s your fault I know that.) 🙂

  • I don’t know, I feel like the farther north I go, the more foreboding and angry the clouds get.. like in Maine this summer, seeing those anvil thick heavy blankets of clouds on the overcast days…or long wispy strands on the coastline…

  • I’m still reading The Name of the Wind, so don’t talk to much about it, please. Great view!

The best cloud (singular: cloud not clouds) gazing session I’ve ever had was in Cairo. In places where rain is rare, you begin wondering not only what the cloud looks like, but things like how that cloud got here—like it’s a baby cloud all alone that got lost from his parents; that’s not a Nimbus cloud, that’s a Nemo cloud. Poor little guy.

  • A couple of places: the west coast of Ireland, and the occasional strange cloud coming from the nuclear power plant by my house… not joking.

Funny how the youth Kvothe misses so much of the obvious because he’s obsesses on the minute — perhaps spiritual growth is gained as one learns how to balance the micro to the macro.

  • Beautiful photo, Trey!!! Thanks for sharing, have a wonderful Friday!!

  • Absolutely beautiful photo. I have a picture of my wife taken from almost the exact location you took this photo from and it saddens me how poor my photo is by comparison…unfortunately we were there back before I was really into photography. We were there early one morning before continuing on to The Baths as part of an excursion and when we got there the beach was literally empty, such a beautiful sight. In my opinion it’s one of the prettiest beaches in the Caribbean.

‘Elodin nodded. “It changes from place to place, but I know how to listen for its changing shape.”‘!
