Drama at Versailles

Going Back to Versailles

I’ve been here twice, and I haven’t really had enough time to shoot. I think a few more trips are in order… one problem with Versailles is that it is so big! It takes quite a while to get from one bit of it to another bit.

Daily Photo – Drama at Versailles

This is one of the smaller “guest houses” at Versailles. It was filled with all kinds of art and the sort of ornate furnishings one would expect of French Royalty. Outside, there was a tremendous courtyard and the clouds were quite dramatic, so away I shot 🙂

beautiful….and the clouds are pretty awesome too! 🙂

  • Love those amazing clouds – very cool perspective.

  • Visited it in May, but was rather disappointed. Yes, it is BIG! With a capital “!”. But there were some many tourists, it was just impossible to watch AND see what you were looking at. Our main concern was not loosing each other in the crowd (two adults and two teenagers). Taking pictures was nearly impossible without bumping into other people. The gardens were not impressing at all (maybe it was just too early in the year), so we skipped that almost entirely.

I did get a few interesting shots:

We were there in March of last year – no crowds, pretty much everywhere in Paris. Versailles definitely too large to cover in one visit.

  • A very cool place, love your photo! I was there a few years ago with my Mom on a tour, there just wasn’t enough time to see everything. I would love to go back some day.

I had a similar experience one July. It was pouring rain outside so every person on the grounds was crammed into the palace. There was literally wall-to-wall people. You couldn’t walk around. It was an exercise in frustration trying to push your way through the crowd so that you could see something. My camera never left the bag.
