Castle for Sale

Trey’s Hangout #33

In this episode, the subject was ‘Social Media and New Opportunities for Artists,” and we had many excellent guests. Also, if you wait until the end (bonus time!), you can see a bunch of new photos from Virgin Gorda and I talk more about the Sony NEX-7.

Photo Mystery – How much to buy the castle?

Okay, other photo mysteries I post here are too easy for you… I’ll go ahead and tell you this place is in Iceland up in the northwest fjords near Isafjordur. So, today’s mystery is: “How much does this castle cost?”

I’ll tell you ahead of time that I don’t know the answer!  But maybe an enterprising Internet-person can figure it out! 🙂

Daily Photo – Castle For Sale

This is a somewhat dilapidated castle in Iceland, and it’s for sale!  I got out to hike around it and take photos, and I noticed a FOR SALE sign in front!  I mean, obviously this falls into the category of “fixer upper” — but look at the view!  I bet you can get it for a good price too…  Let’s see who can figure it out first!

Now this is a big ASK.First how isolated are you from other communities? How big is the land you are buying?  Sold to who ever and we will throw a blanked in to keep you warm. I’ll stay clear of this one but it is a nice pic, love the clouds.

Hi Trey ,thought I would let you know that the Canon MK III is $3595 and the Nikon 800E is $4199 here in Australia.

  • Trey Ratcliff

wow that is the opposite from here in the states… I wonder why!

We are being ripped off our dollar is strong but the busines world are just greedy same with all our Apple gear we buy.

  • Trey Ratcliff

Yes – but why wouldn’t Canon rip you off too?  It is strange that Nikon / Apple stuff is expensive but Canon stuff is cheaper

  • Trey get all over it! 😉

  • Benjamin Doody

Hey Trey, I think I found it! Check out this website it looks pretty close! You were there so you’ll be able to judge better than I, but I think its a close fit…

  • Wow, I would venture a guess of $500,000 U.S.  With a view like that it would be worth it.  It probably go for twice that much if it was here.  Great photo, BTW!!!!  Thanks for posting, have a great Wednesday!!!

  • Wow – beautiful shot – what a view the castle has!!

  • Sherman J. Buster

If I had the money, I’d buy it in a heartbeat for the view alone. If I that kind of money I might also build a bigger/better (read modern amenities) castle beside this one. Then I could fix up the old one as a mother-in-law appartment

  • Where do I make an offer!?  What an amazing location!

  • Get some broadband in there and thIS could be your new HQ!

  • Awesome. I’ve been reading Icelandic authors and it’s nice to see a photo of this forgotten place. All your images are phenomenal — I’m a Nikon lover as well. Just ordered a DSLR because film has gone the way of the dodo bird. LA

  • Wow, that is totally it.  Nice investigating!!

Wonderful photo Trey. “To have lived is not enough for them … They have to [take pictures and] talk about it.”
