Dragon in the Fire

Categories Reminder

Yes yes I know regulars know this trick on the site… but since new people visit all the time (Hi! Welcome!), sometimes I like to throw in these little reminders.

You can click on the Burning Man category to see more photos of this type. I tag every post, and you can see those categories at the bottom of each post.

Daily Photo – Dragon in the Fire

I don’t use my “big” camera too much out in the desert because of the sandstorms… So I’ve been using this little Olympus PEN camera from time to time, and I like the results. Of course, I do a bit more post-processing and this sort of thing… but I’m happy with the results generally from this new line of cameras.

At Burning Man, there are hundreds of unique vehicles that roll around the desert during all times of the day and night. It’s a feast for the eyes and the camera! πŸ™‚

The mighty dragon flew strong against the sandstorm. It blew and ripped, and the sand scoured and blasted through the structure with it a long hollow whistle. There was no sound but that deep sigh of the wind trying to pull apart the mighty beast. The sound was of a long and empty death.

  • Like out of the Wizard of Oz modern version.

  • Sashikanth

    Wow beautiful image trey

  • Susan

me too-wow! That sun and the vehicle are amazing – what a great shot!

  • Whoa, are you shooting right into the sun? Or is that some kind of light at night. Remarkable shot. I don’t always carry the big camera around, but almost always have my little Panasonic Lumix. These little cameras are amazing. I’ve got some good shots with it. Of course it won’t do automatic bracketing, so is somewhat limiting for HDR.

  • Patrick Ahles

Very nice composition! I love the treatment you give these Burning Man shots.

  • Gail Moshier

I agree with all of the above, except Zordittee. Another one sneaking in an ad. Can you remove that one, Trey? It’s a shame people take advantage of your site like that. Anyway, great shot of the dragon in the fire!!! Have a wonderful Sunday, all. πŸ™‚

  • David Hendershot

Very cool. Where do people stay while at burning man?

Don’t forget to tell us all what the “China Mysteries” picture is of.

  • Thank thanks πŸ™‚

David – people camp or stay in RVs — I go the RV route! πŸ™‚

George – yes shooting right into the sun.

  • Man taht is some sweet processing Trey! I love the larger than life sun. Well done. I need to replace my aging backup Olympus with something a little nicer. I can’t remember the name of the camera you talked about some time ago, the one you used to make some of the STUCKINMOTION video, with the insane high frame rate?? Remember the name??

  • Thanks!

Adam – you can probably see more on http://www.StuckInCustoms.com/stuckinmotion ! πŸ™‚

  • Casio EX-FC100! Thanks man!
