Daily Photo – Exploring the Peninsula at Sunrise

I weaved in and out of these little roads as the sun was coming up in Iceland. I was trying to find a certain rock formation off in the ocean, which I never found. But that’s okay. These roads are very windy, and that makes setting up for a shot very difficult. Every curve of the road is a new geometry, and this causes endless possibilities and problems! When you come across a nice old farmhouse like this, you hope the road is curving the right way so that you get a nice setup with the composition.

  • I’m stoked for the Webinar bro.
BTW – If you run into my wife – the 14-24mm Nikkor that I just bought *WAS* a requirement for the Webinar. Got it?

  • Wow! I must say, your blog has to be one of the best written blogs that I have viewed in a long time. What I wouldn’t give to be able to write posts that are as fascinating| as yours. I guess I’ll have to keep reading yours and pray that one day I can write on a topic with as much knowledge as you have! Bravo!!

WOW, this is excellent Trey – it has that nice early morning feel to it… dawn of a new day, etc! I like the sunstars too, breaks up the foreground subject matter well. The farmhouse looks somewhat derelict – did you pop inside for a look?
Thelonious – it’s a pity the shoe isn’t on the other foot, so to speak – you could have blackmailed Trey for a copy of CS5… hehe ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Stunning shot! I know what you mean about the road and perspective changes. Nice work!
Some interiors from a recent trip http://timetotakepictures.blogspot.com Let me know what you think.

Wowee, what a beautiful sunrise!! Love the old farmhouse on the peninsula! And, of course, the water. I agree with the two comments above mine. Great capture, Trey. Thanks so much for sharing all you stories and photos with us. Have a wonderful Tuesday. Did the launch happen yesterday. The news has been all about Bin Laden, so didn’t see anything about it? ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Guilty secret… I have never taken a decent sunrise photo ๐Ÿ™
Mind you that is probably a direct result of my terrible sleeping pattern! Skype calls at 5am my time don’t help either ๐Ÿ˜‰
I did, however, captured this sunset recently… People seem to like it, despite my original decision that it wasn’t perfect enough!

  • Great capture. Doesn’t feel like it’s had alot of Post-Processing to me for some reason. Wonderful Location.

  • Susan

Beautiful shot – love all the colors and especially the purple on the water – cool one Trey!

  • Thanks all!

Eden – you gotta wake up earlier! Comon… you’re young…. you have no excuse !

  • Trey – Working on it mate! ๐Ÿ˜‰
(posted at 2.43am NZ time, whoops…)

  • beautiful sun glare

  • Iceland is my biggest dream. Very peaceful scene, the sky is perfect. Love the sheeps in front of the barn!

  • Todays photo looks amazing – it almost resembles a diorama of a model farmhouse rather than a real one – what a scene!

I agree with Gonzo – maybe there’s time left to add a class into the webinar advising photographers how to justify and explain the purchase of expensive camera lenses to their susi]picious partners and loved ones – what do you think?

  • Wonderful image Trey! I love all of your Iceland shots. What time of year would you recommend visiting there?

  • thelonious gonzo

Eden, where is the sunrise place you speak of and why do you have to get up so early to go there? Other than coffee nothing good happens early. I think I’ll just be happy with sunsets and continue to sleep in.

  • flyme2themoon

I don’t want to be rude but I am not sure why people is “WOWED” by this picture?
It seems to me that if Trey posts any picture, people would be wowed no matter what.
    Please try to be subjective.

  • Thelonious โ€” Trey is right, I do need to get myself out of bed earlier, haha… But I’d be happy with 8am, sunrise is a bit early (and cold!) this time of year ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Simon Morris

Flyme2themoon – beauty is in the eye of the beholder! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I love this photo… And I really really want to explore that house. Nicely done.

  • Love the sunrise and the way the light is reflecting off the clouds and water, great capture!!!

  • This is incredible, and I think demonstrates the capabilities of HDR well.
