A Bar with a View, and time running out to get limited edition print

Not Much Time Left to Secure a Limited Edition print with the Pre-Order

We are starting to count down the final days of the pre-order for “A World in HDR“.  One of the two packages comes with a Limited Edition Numbered print that I’ll be signing.  We are not going to offer this print after we turn off the pre-orders, so it will be a collector’s item.

The Austin book launch party and Photowalk should have over 300-400 people in attendance.  If you are coming to the party, we will have your pre-order there waiting for you (need your name and address).  I know many people are excited about the book, so I wanted to make sure you didn’t wait till the last minute to get all the bonus stuff!

Daily Photo – A Bar with a View

This is an incredible bar in that overlooks the amazing city of Tokyo.  The place was amazingly awesome, and I could see it becoming a major hangout if I lived in the city.  Then again, everywhere I went I could picture as a major hangout!  Can anyone figure out exactly where this was taken?  These little photo mysteries don’t last long around here!

A Bar with a View

  • This is a cool shot! I love the blues visible through the window!

I am assuming that the table is where patrons are served alcohol. If so, two things grab my attention: 1) how wide the chairs are and 2) how relatively low they are off the ground (as, say, compared to a bar stool). Can you comment on this observation, Trey?

  • They are pretty low – as I recall, the area under the bar might go down more… so your feet kinda dangle.

You can tell its Japan by the Whiskey selection.

  • ANA Intercontinental Tokyo, Manhattan lounge, also mentioned on flickr. regards!

  • sorry for double posting, but here’s the whole story http://rado.posterous.com/how-i-beat-treys-tokyo-challenge

  • it’s amazing, each of your photos Trey evokes some memories or associations in my mind. Thank you.

  • Wonderful photo, Trey!!! If I were ever in Tokyo, I would definately want to hang out there! Great capture of a fantastic view of the city, and the tables at the other side look cozy and warm!!! Good job, thanks for sharing!!

  • Great shot and sweet composition!

What a wonderful place to hang out! So warm and glowing and the view looks fantastic! I just don’t see how you manage to get these shots with no people in them! Way to go!

Great looking place, but I can’t figure out the source of the lighting.

On the bar there are placemat-like areas of brightness and on the floor there are lights coming in from mid ceiling aiming toward the chairs. However, I can’t figure where the lighs are.

Can you shed some light here (sorry about that terrible pun).

  • Very nice Trey. So are you doing photography full time now?

  • Trey, you amaze me ever time..

  • Hehe thanks everyone – glad you like it!

Dale – no… I could, but I do several things with my time hehe

Steve – just unusual recessed lights – that’s all! 🙂

  • Looks like I am going to Japan next year, I will be watching for all the good spots you scoped out. Make my job easier. 🙂

  • As usual..fine HDR…nice bar also..but just don’t drink and drive

  • Cool! The red and blue color cast are fantastic.

OK, this is looking up Roppongi Dori, towards Roppongi Hills, and you can see one of the two ATT (Akasaka Twin Tower) buildings, pretty close, so…I’m going to guess that this is the other ATT tower (although, I did not know there was a bar up there, and if there was, would have guessed it was on the top floor, and not in the middle, but anything’s possible in Tokyo)

My backup guess is the newly completed Sanno Park Tower, a bit further away from Roppongi Hills, which might also show the ATT buildings from this vantage point.
