Hi Trey, as much as I don’t want to make this common knowledge, here goes. I’ve been travelling a while now and the Taj Mahal is held up as one of the most stressful events by some, especially photographers. I’m reliably informed that all you do is turn up an hour early and offer enough of a bribe and you’ll be let in. I don’t remember the figure but you get the gyst.

Cool portrait – but it makes me think “Bear Grylls”. I hope you don’t share the same ideals, and I hope you had plenty of water.

On a further note – after the events of the extremists’ attacks in Mumbai, security forces are very, very reluctant to bend any rules. I say this from personal experience (and I was an Indian citizen at the time of my last visit there in January 2011). While tensions may have died down now, the local police and armed security guards take no chances. I had attempted to walk into the gated section at the base of the Taj on the banks of the Yamuna, and a guard start whistling at me like there was no tomorrow.

Also – remember that the Taj is closed on a Friday for Juma Prayers at the local mosque within the grounds.
