I've only given three in-person photography workshops in the past four years, and those were in Tokyo, London and Austin. So I come to you today with three pieces of exciting news!
1) Price change and update on Paris Workshop,
2) 1-Day Workshop in Christchurch, NZ, and
3) A long, more private, 5-day adventure with me in Queenstown, NZ.
Price change for the Paris Workshop
We heard that many people are having trouble affording the Paris event, and we’re not in the business of making people upset. So, I worked with the team to figure something out. We dropped the price dramatically with a “New Plan” of losing money on the event itself. Great plan, eh? Hehe. Actually what we are going to do is have a video crew come along to make a video of the workshop to sell at later date. This way, the people that come to Paris will spend two full days with us shooting and post-processing and one-on-one help. Then later everyone else can enjoy the highlights of the event on video. Good plan that hopefully strikes a happy medium? I think so!
Visit the Midnight in Paris page to see the new price and register for the event!
One Day Christchurch Workshop
Now that I’ve officially moved my family to New Zealand, I wanted to do something special! I’ve been meaning to do this ever since I got settled, and I finally talked to the NZIPP team in Christchurch and we put together this exciting event for you. So come alone or bring a friend – we will all have a great time together! The day long event will be held on December 6, 2012
Visit the Christchurch Workshop page to reserve your spot!
New Zealand Photo Adventure
I’m inviting a very limited number to join me here in New Zealand for a once-in-a-lifetime photo adventure of epic proportions! You’ll get to spend a lot of one-on-one time with me — and you’ll end up with amazing photos and stories no matter your skill level. We'll spend five full days together exploring many amazing places, from Queenstown to Milford Sound.
Visit the New Zealand Photo Adventure page for additional details.

In her book, Digital Castles, Tanya Rochat teaches you how she creates photographic illustrations (digital matte paintings) and what inspires her to start and complete them.
A matte painting is a painted representation of a landscape, set, or distant location that allows filmmakers to create the illusion of an environment that would otherwise be too expensive or impossible to build or visit. Historically, matte painters and film technicians have used various techniques to combine a matte-painted image with live-action footage. At its best, depending on the skill levels of the artists and technicians, the effect is “seamless” and creates environments that would otherwise be impossible to film.
