I took this about an hour after the sun dipped below the distant mountain. Incredible, isn’t it? It looks like it’s freezing cold because that’s what snow normally looks like, but it was actually quite balmy and perfect.
This one is not Antarctica! This one is in White Sands National Park and it’s one of my favorite photos I took that day. This was after the sun had set the sky was changing color from the west to the east… I took this one as I was walking back to the car with my friends… and the more I look at it, the more I like it! 🙂

I’ve been working on some new photos lately at night… In my overall catalog I have like 800,000 photos, and most are unprocessed. I like to go back in time and pull from a pile I haven’t looked at for years. Here’s one I just finished from White Sands National Park in New Mexico.
The powdery white hot sand between your toes is right out of a science fiction world that should not exist. It’s easy to get lost out here as every hill looks like the last.

We made a quick stop on our art talk and photo walk tour of America at White Sands. It was such a peaceful location and a real pallet cleanser after travelling from city to city for a few weeks.
I got a lot of cool shots from our brief stop at White Sands while on the USA bus tour. Most of them involved people in the distance and at least one of those is a top portfolio image for sure… this one, I really do love though. Those patterns in the sand I could look at for hours. Great desktop background for sure. Help yourself 🙂
In today’s photo, I realized those two heads sticking out are the same heads that are on the girls in this photo below. I mean, I guess I realized that at the time, but now I just put it together again!
We made a detour on the road trip across the USA to take photos at sunset here at White Sands National Park. That’s my friend Jonatas there carrying a tripod while we had an amazing time. We had already been to Burning Man a few times, so it was nice to experience a whole new kind of desert with him!
I don’t know how I came across this, but I found this short video about Sea Cucumbers to be rather fascinating!
On the way to the photo walk in Phoenix, we stopped at White Sands National Park to spend the afternoon and evening. It was absolutely beautiful and exceeded all my expectations. I don’t know if you’re allowed to camp out there overnight, but I think it would probably be okay. I didn’t see any police or rangers around… it was incredibly lonely, except for my friends here in the photo.
I’m a really big fan of this guy and his podcasts. This one is a recent favorite with Yuval Noah Harari, one of my favorite authors who wrote Sapiens and Homo Deus.

It was a great decision to spend the day on a journey to White Sands National Park. What an amazing place! I wish I had more time there, but I took all the photos I could during the three hours there. I actually don’t even know if there is a hotel or inn nearby. I don’t think so; it’s quite remote. But, either way, this place is definitely worth a day-and-sunset-visit.
