Bang Saray – Stuck in Customs

Fishing Near Bang Saray

Daily Photo – Fishing Near Bang Saray

What a cool place, eh? I love how the Thai people paint all their boats are super bright colors. I think if someone floated by with a boat all painted in soft pastels they would tease them, Thai-fisherman style. I don’t know that for a fact… I really am not sure where Thai fishermen stand on these important social issues…

In Studio in Bang Saray

Daily Photo – In Studio in Bang Saray

My friend Chris Craker has an amazing music studio a bit south of Pattaya in Thailand in a little beach town called Bang Saray. I stayed here for about a week and it was cool to watch so many music artists at work together. I don’t really hang out around musicians… I’m kind of a loner artist on my own, so it was super interesting to watch how they all worked and collaborated together.

Boats in Thailand

USB type C

Well, another year, another set of cords. Now that I have switched to the Android Nexus 6p, it has the USB type C connection. It’s great because it’s reversible like the iPhone one, but it does require a bunch of cord-scramplin’ around! I have one on my computer, one in my car, and another I travel with… so it takes a whole new set of logistics and thinking to get my head around all this…haha… oh well. Maybe one day we won’t have to charge stuff anymore! 🙂

Daily Photo – Boats in Thailand

Right off the coast of Bang Saray, where I was staying, is an endless supply of really interesting boats. I really know almost nothing about boats, but I never got tired of walking along all the docks and staring out into the sea… also, I noticed, that there never seems to be a bad sunset in Thailand, so it’s a winner combination!

Getting All Sweaty in Thailand

Finding Secret Spots!

Here’s a video of how I used Stuck on Earth (a free app) to find this place below.

Daily Photo – Getting All Sweaty in Thailand

I lost about five pounds in water weight during this shoot! It happened to be an extremely hot day, but I was still in the mood for taking photos. This spot was actually very close to where I was staying in Bang Saray, so it didn’t take too long to get here… I used the extra time to take photos and get more sweaty!

Temples in Thailand

Religious Architecture

I’m getting better and better at identifying a country just by looking at its religious buildings. Not always, though. Europe is really hard because most of the cathedrals look alike. The German ones stand out a bit more in their gothicness. The French ones tend to be a bit more ornate, as you’d expect. But in the Asian countries, there is a much bigger difference. The Japanese ones look nothing like the Thai ones which look nothing like the Chinese ones. It’s interesting!

Here’s another good spot that I found thanks to Stuck on Earth. It’s close to Bang Saray and is a very friendly walking-area. The whole place is very strange and full of surprises. I won’t tell you the surprises just in case you visit here some day. I’ll tell you this though: it’s a super-weird adventure with animals you’ve probably never heard of (I hadn’t!)

The Squid Boat

Waking up early for photos

You’ll see in the story below that I never actually got a photo of that amazing boat at night. I could have, if I wasn’t so lazy and wanted to see them come into port at 5 AM, but, honestly, I was way too lazy. That bed just feels so darned good. A comfy bed in the morning is my kryptonite.

Daily Photo – The Squid Boat

One thing you may notice from this photo are the huge lightbulbs. I’ve never seen such huge bulbs on a boat. But, apparently (and I did not see this), they light these boats up at night and the squid come flocking. This makes them very easy to catch! Maybe next time I go I’ll be able to see these guys in action… I think that would be an amazing photo – it’s on my to-photo list! 🙂

In Bang Saray at Karma Studios

Amazing time at Karma Sound Studios

When I was recently in Thailand, I spent the week staying at Karma Sound Studios. It was really incredible and fun! What an amazing place for people to collaborate and make some great music. I met all kinds of famous Thai musicians there… it was a really kinda strange and awesome week!

Daily Photo – Down on the Pier at Sunset

This is just a short walk from the studio. The sunsets in Thailand were amazing all week. I don’t know if they are always that good, but maybe! I don’t think I’ve been in a place where I had good sunsets for an entire week. Maybe in the Caribbean? Anyway, this place was really special because of all the squid boats. I’ll show you some cool shots of those as soon as I get around to processing them! 🙂

The Ancient Jungle

Found using Stuck On Earth!

You might recall this place from my recent Stuck On Earth video where I show how I discovered this spot!

Daily Photo – The Ancient Jungle

Here’s an amazing place I found somewhere near Bang Saray, Thailand. It was a VERY STRANGE place, actually. Everything was both authentic and fake in the sense that you get the feeling it was all built for people to visit rather than practical use. There were other parts of this place I did not photograph. Most of them involved having hundreds of fake strange animals in various poses. Imagine 100 lemurs doing strange things on rocks, and you can begin to get the idea. I feel like telling you that kind of ruins this photo, but, oh well… Actually, I can tell this place was not designed by any photographers because getting a good angle on anything was almost impossible. This is honestly the ONLY good angle in this area of strangeness.
